Myfanwy- the greatest love song I know. I know no Welsh but I know the story and like Lili Marlene it brings me to tears in its native tongue. I don't understand why this song isn't a staple of Folk Singers over the World, even if translated to English. Their is something about those Welsh songs like 'Calon Lan' 'Ar Hyd a'Nos', 'Cwm Rhondda', and 'Men of Harlech', they just go to the heart.

Please tell me the translation to English. I will try to sing it in Welsh, because I learned a time back that I am of Welsh blood, yet I need to be able to feel the lyrics as I am singing them, and without the translation it will be nearly impossible for me to achieve the feeling. Never seen this before but just the word Myfanwy gets to my expat heart

I'm in tears. I was looking up Myfanwy from Little Britain and found the song, and determined to learn it this is the first video I watched, and I feel lucky. As a man who sings traditional songs about men, I like to hear women sing traditional songs about women, but more than that, your voice has the beautiful, the precious, the vulnerable, and the heartbreaking, and I can hear you developing your own ways of making me weep the way Martha Wainwright does.
