Fun fact: My sister and I actually had 2 male and 3 female Bettas all happily living in the same tank. Then eventually those bettas went to live in a tank with 2 goldfish, a couple mini sharks, and a couple stingrays. Each kind of fish occupied their own layer of the tank pretty peacefully. We first had their bowls next to each other for awhile, then put them in a tall cylindrical 5 gallon tank with a bubbler. Plenty of space and places to hide. We never had a fight. Whether it was the specific fish, the time spent near one another, or the male to female ratio, we're not sure. But it was so awesome.

That's actually really awesome!!! I've often wondered just how solo of a fish they are in their natural habitats. They obviously have to mingle and coexist to some degree!!! I personally don't leave our betas solo. I always add some snails or other peaceful bottom feeders. This time the kids wants aquatic frogs. So far they are quite happy coexisting.

Rule of thumb for betas. 1 beta needs a gallon tank of water. It gives them room to swim and stay healthy. A little plastic plant gives them a hiding spot. My betas lasted 10 years with a proper sized tank

Each Beta has a 10g glow tank with a bottom feeder, plants and decorations! They are pretty awesome biddy fish. I had no idea they could live 10 years!
