This sort of looks like that one concept video about the folding up into a round thing where the screen and all folds into it with the case. I've seen this concept done before in that video and I think they were going off another idea. Good video Lew and have a safe day!

@@Omar7Delgado Lol I have the 15 inch but with 256 GB storage. The only issues I'm having is with responsiveness issues and a pathetically slow ssd write speed. Otherwise, it's great, I was hoping the surface book 3 would use >25W processors but since it's not I"m not switching to it

As a student who enjoys writing their notes but doesn’t want to carry around all that paper, a device like this is perfect, and more preferable than getting a laptop + iPad Pro

i have a refurbished model 1 surface book and i love it. if it ever breaks down or i'm looking to just upgrade, i'm just gonna get the latest version of the same laptop, it's that good.

I'm still rocking the original Surface Book 1 and it's awesome even after many years of heavy daily use. I wish they have a matte black Surface Book.

I have the SB2 and love it. I use it everyday, and bought it because I do presentations, and when I couple it to the base in tablet mode, it allows me to be a better presenter. I will say one thing, and that is to get the most amount of HD Space as possible. Windows takes up a lot of space, and 256GB does not really cut it, unless everything you do is in online folders (Google Drive/OneDrive, etc...)

Laptop, detaches: tablet, folds: phone, detaches: smartwatch.

Always wanted one of these. Especially because they're so beautiful to look at too.

I'm just sitting here drooling over the laptop going "shit, it's beautiful.."

What a cool idea, its like a perfected 2 in 1 laptop. 2 in 1 are usually fatter too, but if u remove the keyboard, it really turns into something special lol. The only thing this needs is to be more fit and skinny or smaller sides of the screen.

This has to be the best Microsoft product aesthetically so far.

I think they shouldve extended the keyboard to it also acts as a small back rest for the screen, helping to offset the weird weight balance. Having such a tiny contact point makes it difficult to engineer a sturdy solution.

Having used the Surface Pro for a year and then switching to the Surface Book (now on my 3rd year with it) it is much more comfortable to balance it on a lap, on the bed, etc... The Surface Pro though was better as a tablet. Anyway, the design is still great and unmatched in terms of versatility for people who wants to take advantage of its features.

I have an SB2 and I love it. If you have a keyboard and mouse and you want more of a desktop experience without an external screen mount the screen backwards, put it on a laptop stand and plug in your keyboard and mouse.

The way u unbox everything is kinda of unique that nobody ever can try off

Let's not forget the heat dissipation or lack thereof. Looking at the underside of a Mac no air vents or just little dainty ones. It's so stupid 😂

I've got the Surface Book 2 and it really shines when you've got the pen, it's a fantastic little photoshop machine. It was also powerful enough to act as my main 'desktop' computer when that died for me for about 6 months lmao which was really cool, had to buy a dongle to be able to connect a monitor though. Now I just use it to run minecraft servers :d //Also looking at the specs this is not a huge upgrade over the Surface book 2, just a slight spec bump as far as I can see, might be able to grab the 2nd gen for a good discount now

I've been using my Surface Book 2 for 2 years now. Most problems are in the hardware. Screen wise, it is a complete finger print magnet. Laptop cover can be easily scratched and bent after repeated use. Its pretty heavy tbh, affecting portability. Only the display and speaker impresses.

@@jintse5987 i know what you mean. But as a thinkpad user i have to say that after some time i just let the laptop stay in tentmode or tabletmode using a mouse and keboard stationary. And if I'm on the go i take it with one hand snap it close and thats it. With the surfacebook it would take forever and i would be fucking scared that this piece of hardware gets broken. Seriously, as a person who travels a lot i need a robust device. I'm very curious about the X1 Fold, it actually takes this formfactor into another level. Lets see how it performes.

Apart from the great features, I’ve seen these upclose and they look a lot more upscale and premium than they appear on video.

This a really smart design. Distributing the batteries is a smart move.

I have the Surface Book 2 and love everything that Lew enthuses about - versatility, delicious tactile keyboard, scintillating screen, inspired design. But the battery life in tablet mode is scandalous - barely more than an hour unless you switch off or dim everything and undervolt! It can handle fairly brutish tasks but overheats badly - I have to strap a fan to the back when editing 4k video to keep the chip from keeling over. But still it's a beautiful machine overall - so great to see its slick magnesium form on influencer tables once again and hopefully the third iteration has addressed some of these problems. By the way, Lew, you can leave that second power brick at home if you want and and charge it through the USB C port!

I hope they improve the hinge. Been using Book 2 for more than a year, the most recurring Im facing is the hinge loose-ness that make the Book 2 keep switching between Tablet and Laptop mode. But other than that, its an incredible machine.

Not sure if mine is a hinge issue or not but the screen won't detach anymore and Microsoft's advice is to factory reset. :(

You can also charge the tablet part where it connects to the base if you're nearby the charging cable. They have never advertised this for some reason but it works on my surface book 1 and onwards

Watched this video on my Laptop My Laptop: Don't you even dare!

This is a really nice thing. It's odd though, when this launched it was so modern feeling. It still is, for sure, but wish they would have made smaller bezels and increased the touch pad + thunderbolt (duh, why doesn't it have it). With that, it would really be a great thing to replace all most of the stuff in the home and on the go. 1660ti? That would sort out gaming, even if you couldn't play high on everything, totally playable.

I really wanted this version of the SB that you said here and I waited for a year, but sadly this year Microsoft stopped the manufacturing line of this perfect product and made surface laptop studio which I think brings nothing more than the surface pro devices except more powerful spec or a hardware keyboard! I wish we could have Surface book 4 in the matte black color with smaller bezels and the 3050i graphic card and more improvements on the design! That device would be my number one gadget ever.

If it's like mine, I had to turn one Dolby in the Sound preferences for the speakers and it's SO much better

You also can plug the charger into the bottom port in the screen.

Same. Silver keys suck, especially when the back light is on. Black would be cool

With the 15-incher you don't even get a serious keyboard, I mean, no dedicated navigation keys. Bummer. I'll spend my 2 grands elsewhere. But heck, great review, great vid a always, keep it up!

Surface Book 2 was the best laptop I've ever had. It's still amazing at everything it does, no need to upgrade to Book 3. I'll wait for gen 4 before thinking of doing that.

Much better than the MacBook Pro crap. No graphics card and a older gen processor for $1500+ "pro" laptop 😂😂😂

True, the MBP leaves alot to be desired for actual "pro" use.

I would buy this. If microsoft will offer us a dock where the screen would be attached and work as full desktop on my desk setup.

This is cool., I am kind of trapped on the apple eco system, most because I have so much music, and photos, but lately I have been looking to get out, this might do it, I am just waiting for the phone to be release and do a full switch . Awesome reviews thanks

@@AuraRazor will only use tablet fkr media consumption, using pen and presentation but wanted a powerful laptop. Hopefully beats gaving to have both separate.

The front camera is actually a very good one

Back then i loved the Book 15'6, but now, iPad Pro with the Magic Keyboard just does everything better.

I have the SBook 2 15" i7 and use it daily and LOVE IT. (I also own a loaded 2019 MacBook pro 15") these are crazy good all-in-ones. I game on it (cod mwf ) I use it in easel mode, tablet mode I laptop mode. . . It Rocks

I hope they upgraded the Windows Updates too, my Book 2 is stuck for like 6 months now, I can't just flash it since it's my main PC for work.

I got the first one (I was one of those who couldn't help but go 'wow' when the announcement video showed the tablet portion detaching). It was a capable laptop but didn't click with me. It was a bit too heavy, and the detach/ attach wasn't quite working 100% both in hardware and software. I was looking for some more advancements/ improvements with this 3rd version (which has been 4 -5 years now).

my second gen model never had bothered me with detatching and attaching but yeah it's still a lot heavier than most laptops out there. since they haven't changed much on the third gen is gonna be similar to the second gen with a little more power

Our company has about the 200 book 2 and 40 surface book 1s and no issues with anybody them

I want a 16 inch MacBook version of this. Keep the same thing, graphics on the bottom, maybe secondary processor/ssd on the bottom, more speakers on the bottom, etc.

They should make it so the surface pro has the accessory keyboard that is from the Pro and then only make it in one size so its cheaper to produce. You could buy the tablet then later down the line if you need a laptop / more horsepower you can get the base accessory. Then if you want to upgrade and get a better top half in a few years you can buy just a screen and keep ur old base?? What do you guys think?

I have one of the first "Books" and love it. The only fault I find is with the hinge...be careful if you have it on bare legs when you open it. That hinge can pinch the crap out of you!
