Literally one quick google search: With a range of up to 1.7 m (5.6 ft), the tide creates a difference in the water level of up to 1.5 m (4 ft 11 in) between the Inland Sea and the Pacific. Due to the narrowness of the strait, the water rushes through the Naruto channel at a speed of about 13-15 km/h (8-9 mph) four times a day, twice flowing in and twice flowing out. During a spring tide, the speed of the water may reach 20 km/h (12 mph), creating vortices up to 20 m (66 ft) in diameter.". It's speculated that there are massive methane explosions that occur under the sea water of the Bermuda triangle, and that these explosions create such massive (and I mean MASSIVE) whirlpools that have enough size and power to suck in a large boat even a cargo ship. By studying the power of whirlpools just based off the internet, I wouldn't second guess that theory...
@DyslecticAttack
6 ай бұрын
To be fair, the methane explosions don't even need to form a whirlpool to suck ships under. Just a steady bubbling will make ships sink really fast, and well, if the ship is submerged when the water comes in to fill up space it has to be a pretty good ship not to take some damage. With big bubbles it's essentially the ship falling on unsteady water, and then being hit by giant waves from all sides. And if in those circumstances you also get a whirlpool, then it's at least not aiding in recovering from the situation to say the least.
@bztube888
5 ай бұрын
Yes, that's not a whirpool, the bubbles (from the metan gas) drops the density of the water, so the boats have to merge deeper. The water basically dissappear under the boat and it's replaced by a water-gas mixture. If there is enough bubble, the water so "gas-like" that the boat can't float in it at all, and it sinks completely. Like this: kzread.info/dash/bejne/lYCY2NORh6fJqLg.html
@robertcarter9535

Speculated?? Sounds like Bermuda triangle conspiracy garbage. According to Lloyds of London, one of the largest Maritime ship insurers in the world. The tidal pools on the shores of naruto are very pretty too. It’s sort of terrifying being up in the lookout over the pools rather than on the ship, though, since it’s really windy and the foundation was creaking quite a bit. Probably not the most comforting experience for anyone afraid of heights, either. But then again I wouldn’t underestimate the dangers of actually going out to the whirls in the water. They actually wouldn’t let the ship leave the dock on the day I had visited because it was storming that much, and the whirls had increased their diameter by over 100 ft. They are much more hazardous than you think. The location is still quite neat to visit though, since there are only 2(?) areas in the world where they are continuously formed I think. I’d still recommend visiting.

Most whirlpools look just like that. They’re still super dangerous to swim around, but in reality they don’t look like what you see in the movies. Whirlpools are super fast rotating currents; they’re mostly just static like you see in the video, it’s very rare for an actual big funnel to form

Don't underestimate whirlpools. Had an uncle pass at a sadly young age ( just becoming an adult). Drowned in a whirlpool trying to pull his best friend from it. No one knew it was there, and now they are buried in the same coffin with a double head stone due to being unable to separate them without breaking their bones. Be safe in any water. But if the water seems to calm more than likely something ain't right.

Do not underestimate whirlpools. If you end up finding one, it may look small but it travels down much further. Their size doesn’t show in the in the width, but more in the length. Edit: MOM IM FAMOUS 😨😨

Wjirlpools are the epitome of don't judge a book bynitd cover I almost died sparefishing i the bahamas when just about a 3 foot wide whirlpool appeared . The downforce was so immense I barely got to to the surface because i kept getting dragged down.
@DyslecticAttack
@bztube888
@robertcarter9535

Speculated?? Sounds like Bermuda triangle conspiracy garbage. According to Lloyds of London, one of the largest Maritime ship insurers in the world. There is absolutely no more ship disasters in the Bermuda triangle then any other part of the ocean there’s absolutely nothing abnormal or different about the Bermuda triangle
We call them undertows here, on top those might look calm, but under the water is a whole different story

Fears about whirlpools definitely weren't fake. You're fine cause those were small whirlpools and were on a boat, but there's still people constantly drowning because they swim out too far or don't keep an eye on the current and end up in a whirlpool

What she said about whirlpools is like saying fires aren’t dangerous because you easily put out a match
Whirlpools can definitely still be dangerous. Those small ones just don’t affect the ship much because of how big the ship is compared to the whirlpools
Norway has whirlpools too. Narrow inlets often have them when the tide changes.
I've known people who were sucked down and killed in whirlpools. Strong swimmers. Generally in rivers, not out in open water like this
small ones like those are ok, but its the larger ones that can affect the boats ect that are just as scary and dangerous as those childhood nightmares.
There are a few places in the world where whirlpools get big. The massive ones can be destructive to the nearby land features that cause them to form.
I think those might be eddies, which those are swirling currents, I don't know if they're considered whirlpools. But big whirlpools are definitely dangerous. If I'm wrong, someone please correct me
If you see a whirlpool at the top, remember that it often goes down, sometimes very very far down
It’s all fun and games until the captain tells us to put on our wet suits ._.

Good thing I don't have to worry about whirlpools like I have to worry about quicksand.

Whirlpools pools are scary but water cakes are deadly
"So we can finally rest easily." Enter Kev Dog.
Must admit, those “small currents” sadly have a tendency to be a lot stronger than they look. And in certain places can get rather big, with the ability to literally pull people and even boats to their watery grave. Nice that those ones aren’t too bad tho.
The Milky Way is a humongous whirlpool in itself.
Can recommend renting bikes and go over the bridges and islands. You will get great views of several along the way. If you are in decent shape and start in the morning, its no problem to cross the entire straight in one day and you can go back with either bus or train in the evening.
The fear of whirlpools is an old phenomenon, as the stories of the monstrous Scylla at the mouth of Gibraltar prove.
There are big dangerous ones down river from the Niagara falls.
Whirlpools like quicksand are much less of a problem than we spent our childhoods preparing for.
