Did we forget that Usher made a song called "Trading Places"? They could've signalled us with a few chords from that. They mimicked Usher's Vegas vibes. Cool. However, BET screwed up royally. Some of the tribute performers should not have been there. There are only 3 parts that I've repeatedly rewatched afterwards. Childish Gambino (until he starts giving "This Is America" vibes towards the end of his performance) he kills a good high note❤, he started to lose me when the notes weren't in his range. You allow it on a Childish project because, sonically, he'll make up for it somehow. Here, during tribute, BET left us deprived, especially with him as the only Male vocalist of the Tribute... Keke (Honorable Mention), she had me going back in the deep recesses of my mind when Usher used to dance out of his shoes & flash his drawers🤣. Chloe Bailey KILLED IT❣️ She did what is suggested when you sing someone else's song, she made it her own. Best performance of the Tribute. I didn't like the Camera work on her performance, though. There were alot of chopped up tight shots, that should've been wide to show all that was going on on stage. Teyana Taylor's vocals were Chef's Kiss. 👩🏾‍🍳💋She hit that "What y'all know about a Supermodel?" so well, that I forgot Usher wasn't singing, just that fast. It was delightful to hear in a sea of off-key vocals. Her performance with Victoria Monet was provocative. (It gets the People going) 😂 Marsha Ambrosius gets a pass for her vocals, she probably didn't have time to rest her voice. We know that she goes off vocally. With that said, I don't appreciate the chop job that was done on Superstar. But Again, she gets a pass.🫠 Tinashe, why? The only good part of her latest song is the part that the YT Guy with the Glasses dances to on TikTok. I didn't appreciate her trying to slip a reference to that into this Tribute.🙄 Coco Jones deserves an apology from Tyrese. "Nobody was coming to see you, Otis." I thought that it was cute that she went to Usher's Wife before him. Usher's reaction was like: "Hold On, is this not about Me?"😂 Usher's Mom appreciated Coco's move too, watch her face. Coco was visibly nervous, her vocals were shaky. Latto, Why? She could've done Usher's Rap from "Seduction". She came out to "Yeah!"...? And did Ludacris' part?! Then no one was doing the actually dance steps shouted out in "Yeah!"😢 They could've asked Chris Brown to perform on his concert stage and telecast it to BET the way Award shows used to do Michael Jackson back in the day. The tech is better nowadays and would've been a fire inclusion. There were so many Men that could've come together to even tag team one song. Missed opportunity to resolidfy BET as an actual entertainment channel and win back lost fans of the channel. It was sub-Mid.
