Hi.. well the issue is more like for sightseeing within Ladakh. You can now take the bike till Leh but then have to rent local leh bike for sightseeing. That rule still is there. For Zanskar Valley that rule is not applicable yet so you can take Manali bike and do zanskar valley sightseeing

Hi Dheeraj, Once again need some suggestion from you for Ladakh trip on Sept 1st week. 1. What could be the option of camps/cottages (average/moderate budget) in Pangong (Spangmik) for proper lake view for photography. Some names if you can provide. 2. Is it required to book in advance for stay in Pangong in Sept 1st week? Thanks 🙏

Well, many of the camps have been moved back from the lake to protect the lake. I will suggest that you go over to Man - Merak villages and get a home stay up there or camp in Man village if you want to stay in camps. Since September is lean season, you may book on spot too after seeing what suits best.

Hi Dheeraj, we are planning a trip to Leh via lamayuru, padum, gumbok rangon, manali from Delhi. We will start on 22nd of September. My Questions are: 01) How is day and night tempratures going to be on that route? 02) We are carrying tents and ready to eat food and plant to camp at Darcha, Padum, Lamayuru, will it be comfortable? 03) How is the rain and Flooding condition right now and will it improve in next 3 weeks? 04) We will be on KTM 390 Adv bikes, so are there any specific areas on this route we should be cautious about? 05) We will start taking Dimox a day before we start as we are planning toreach Darcha and Camp there directly from Delhi (I have done Ladakh on bike earlier from srinagar kargil side) as we have only 9 says to cover Zanskar, Pangong & Umlingla. Will it be stretching too much? Thanks

Here are my replies: 1. Usually it depends on the place of stay up there. Higher reaches will have lower temp while lower places will have high temp. The range you can assume anywhere from 5-20 degrees. Overcast days will be cold and in case of snowfall, it may get sub-zero too. Passes will be pretty cold with night temperatures going to sub-zero. 2. As long as you have proper -5 deg sleeping bags and good camps, it should be OK. If this is first time camping, I will suggest against it or at least camp at a place near homestay so that you have something to go to in case you feel uncomfortable. 3. It has been dry up there for last few days, things are getting better and in three week it may be much better. 4. Watch my playlist of this video where I have explained all the routes in detail with road conditions. 5. I think adding Pangong and Umling La seems like a stretch to me as you may have seen in the itinerary I have shared in the video above.

Hey man I’m planning a trip from Srinagar to Leh and from Leh to Manali with my family during the first week of august(we will be using suv like innova). I wanted to know the road conditions for the trip as I’ve heard that road conditions are bad from Leh to Manali. On google map it says to take NH3 I’ve no idea about the routes and passes. If the road from Leh to Manali is in bad conditions then is the road from Leh to Turtuk ok? If not should we go back from Leh to Srinagar? Also what are the predicted weather conditions in these places? Is it safe to travel by road or no? Eagerly awaiting your response 😊

Sapna, peak winter, I will advice against going to Zanskar as roads can close for a very long time up there in case they are open during the time of your travel to Zanakar. For Zanskar, it is best to plan in season time unless you want to risk getting stuck up there for a long time.

It is possible to travel up there middle of October but when traveling on highways please ensure that you check weather before leaving the source point in morning. Avoid if weather is bad. Secondly it will be quite cold, so make sure you prepare well with winter clothing!

Well usually the september second week onwards things settle up. There is surely 1-2 occasional spells of snowfall at passes and you just want to keep an eye on weather when traveling on Manali Leh road. Otherwise Sept 10 to Sept 30 is one of my favourite time to travel up there with roads mostly in best shapes of the season.. for taking kids to Ladakh do kot foget to check my video on travelin to Ladakh with kids

We are a group of 12 persons. Now we are going to book the vehicles. Kindly advice which one is better for us.__ THREE INNOVA CRYSTA or TWO TEMPO TRAVELLERS? One more query, Is Inner line permit needed now? Thank you in Advance Sir.

I do not recommend traveling up there in winter time. You may get stuck for a long time due to heavy snowfall and cold conditions are pretty unforgiving in winter, especially when you are not used to extreme cold.
