If you're going to use HardeningKitty, I recommend you use it in a VM first and try applying the list(s) that you want to use to see if there's going to be any issues you run into. This tool is geared more towards people like sysadmins. If something breaks or doesn't work right and you still want to use it, you'll need to have the skill to troubleshoot and fix the issues. HotCakeX and ConfigureDefender are quite a bit more user friendly, so I recommend using one of those tools instead. As always, make sure you create a system restore point in case anything goes wrong on your computer.

Can HotCakeX run on Windows 11 Home or do you need Pro version?

@@TommyShlong She said it can only run on Pro or higher. I think it's because Hyper-V and BitLocker are woven into the script. I suppose there's a chance that portions of it might work on Home, but I haven't got around to testing that out yet.

hey there! loved your video i wanted to know what you could do about the error at 21:36, i faced the same issue when trying it on my VM and i just had to manually comment out the flags that were erroring out

I don't like 3rd party tools . You can harden your computer just by selecting STRICT in settings for system security . You can also specify what can and cannot get into your computer in windows defender firewall

I share the same sentiment. I rarely use third party tools outside of a few exceptions due to the risks becoming bigger.

I would recommend using ConfigureDefender since it's really easy to use and you can turn it off easily if something is causing an issue. If you want to use the script from HotCakeX, that one works really well too, it's just going to be harder to deal with an incompatibility if one happens. I don't recommend most people to use HardeningKitty though. That one can break a system really easy if a person doesn't take a lot of time to make sure everything is being done well.
