Great videos. One request ( if possible ). I see many videos of people starting and riding a wing foil. I can’t find any people dismounting the board as they come back to the shore. Do you just jump off? Is the foil at risk of snapping as you come into the shore or shallow waters? I’m yet to have a go of Wing Foiling in the up and coming Summer season. I tried kite surfing last season with a heap of well guided lessons. I’m now curious about this new sport. Looks like fun. Cheers 😁

Matti Great question! Most yep just either let the power out of the wing and kneel down and then slip off the side of the board or hope off the side of the board. The foil yes can be challenging entering or exiting the water, Here is a good video for you. kzread.info/dash/bejne/eniqo5aBZ6Wbe7g.html

Dan all depends on your skill really but you can ride anything really at 190 pounds, maybe a 1600-1800. I would try and demo one to see what feels nice to you!

Hello, i would like to start, I am 220lb, can foil kite with foot changes I have a Cabrinha cutlass foil 5ft2in and a cabrinha 1900 cmsq foil wing in the front. Can i use this to start wing foil? Also, what wing should I get as I am a pretty big guy. Heard there are som with 2 inflating chambers in case of failure of one. Thank you!!!

Friend, I would recommend a 6m wing for you or even a 7m for more power you are a lager guy! Cabrinha X2 would be a good wing for you! We have some links in the description to get wings. As for your board the Cutlass will only work if you are skilled at wing foiling, and its very windy. Not recommended, I would look for a Cabrinha X-fly, Macro, or a board around 100-140 Liters. More liter the easier to learn. My thoughts...

Hi Damo, thanks to you and Gwen for these videos. I thought 5m was what people suggest usually as a standard 1-wing quiver. But you seem to be suggesting 6m in this video. I'm 200 lbs, so I'm thinking definitely 6m is the way to go?

I’m a beginner but I’m gonna chime in. I think it depends where you live. I am inland, Colorado. Wind isn’t that reliable. I’ve got a 6 m cabrinha crosswing x2. I think it was a good choice because it’s usually under 13 miles an hour where I’m at unless it’s gusting and then it can be 20 or 30 sometimes. Also I’m 190 pounds on a 2100 cm² foil. I think for a one wing quiver 6 m is good for me but if I was on the coast maybe I’d go 5. For a big guy I don’t think it hurts to error on the side of bigger like a 6 m. I have friends who have 7 and 8 m for super light conditions. More time on foil! I’ll probably end up with a 4 and a 6. If I was on the coast a 3.5 and a 5.

@@ColoradoMikeC thanks for your response Mike. Like you, I too am in inland lakes of Minnesota. I'd say wind here is a tad more reliable than Colorado, because Minnesota is predominantly flat. But still, nothing like the Ocean, so I guess a 6m for my weight can't get too powerful. Unlike a kite (I'm also an intermediate kitesurfer), I'm hoping I should be able to depower easily.

@@raghuram2815 it’s super easy to depower. Just sheet out the rear hand a little bit and let a little wind through. The only drawback about big wings is they can get caught in the water easier but you learn to avoid it.

@@ColoradoMikeC which is why I'm. considering the Airush Starboard FreeWing. It is known for the design with wing tips coming further inside. So I'm guessing it will be more manageable than other wings.

@@raghuram2815 Also those Duotone Slicks are nice and compact. Starboard, Ensis, F1 and Cabrinha all make good stuff. 6 and 7m are just big, but once your up and moving, its all good,

Can you elaborate a bit on what you mean by "wind" - are you looking at gusts or average speeds? Very curious as I'm not sure I'm looking at the right data when choosing wings. I was on ~22 mph average wind out at Hood River recently and a 5m wing was pretty overpowered, I was struggling just to pull it out of its neutral position to engage it. But it was gusting to around 40... I wound up on a 3m all day and was very happy with it! [ 175# dude on a Kujira 1210cm foil]

Toby, 20 -22 average in knots is good for a 5 if the gusts are say 25 and lulls of say 18, but 40 is another level. 3m for sure when you start going over 30+ and honestly the Gorge is a very gust place so sometimes no matter what size you rig you will be under powered or over powered in the same session, as like you had it the spread was a ton 22-40 and I am sure you had lulls of less than 22. That is a gusty day and will always be up and down on power. I hope that helps....
