Honestly, the best way I've found to learn Kanji is to simply learn vocabulary. As you learn to recognize different words in writting, you'll slowly begin to notice the same characters appearing over and over again, and you'll subconsciously start to see patterns and pick up on their meanings. Even if you never learn what a specific character actual means, as long as you can recognize words that use it, that's all you really need. While apps can certainly help, your main source of knowledge should be your immersion. It's not rocket science.

Spreadsheets are extremely helpful. Natural sentences in Japanese can be categorized by noun (猫), grammar point (にとって), verb (飲み干す), adjective (素早い), adverb (たくさん), time variables (早朝), and physical locations (神奈川県). This approach is highly effective because every single sentence that you read can be transformed into 6 vocabulary entries (one for each category) and 1 grammar point (if there is one). You're also learning everything in context.

I’ve downloaded the Mochi app and like it very much! But I think it’s very helpful if you have the kana memorized first, which I don’t. I still have to refer to my cheat sheet some of the time. But I like the choice of kanji used in the first lessons. Very relevant and helpful. Also I was hoping to see some info on all the different readings that the Kanji have. Perhaps a rule of thumb on which reading to use and when because some kanji have three readings. But thanks for your videos! I appreciate you very much.
