“How do two brothers get into the nail care business?” This is the single most common question people ask us. There’s a long and rocky version but we’ll give you the short one. We have our fearless and unconventional mother, Young Salo, to thank. With a single-minded entrepreneurial spirit, she decided to start her own business at the age of 49. She had a passion for the nail industry and we did everything in our power to support her. In the end, this is a family business.
Greg, the older brother, became a licensed nail technician after switching gears from fire fighter’s training. He is energy personified and has a true passion for developing the best professional nail care products and education. Habib is the younger brother. He jumped in a few years later; taking a detour from medical school and a life in music. He brings his own creative mind for business, marketing and strategy. Unexpectedly, we are a perfect team.
Today, more than 20 years later, Young Nails Inc., is a professional nail care manufacturing company exporting to over 40 countries worldwide and distributing domestically to over 3000 stores. We’re respected for our next-level product innovation and education. Our mission is to bring you the best quality products and we’ll show you how to use them with incredible results. It’s really that simple.
Welcome to the Young Nails family!

You would cut the nails down as much as you can and then continue like working on bitten nails

my wife's nails are very fragile, thin and do not grow or grow evenly,, so I believe that's one reason for me that I take so long to do a set although yn products do last her longer than other nail shops. the yn nail forms I have to customize for her fingers. I told her to let her nails grow especially the pinky half of natural nail is broken off, im not a nail tech by any means just a husband that does her nails so I can't get her to grow out her nails but I at least got her to stop breaking her nails off just means more work for me.... I just want my wife's nail to look perfect and be proud of the nails I did.

I was a nail biter, the one that got nails and started using YN, became a DIYer, and now they are much healthier, I stopped that bad habit😇 I also started using conversion gel, that’s helping a lot.

I was a nail biter a long time ago. Because of this, I caused damage to the way my nails grow out. The Hyponychium is much further out then where the nail starts to grow, and I don't think this will ever change. If I would have known then, what I know now.....I don't bite them anymore but the damage is done. As a mental health professional, scorning or belittling a nail bitter is not going to help the situation. Many nail bitters do this because of anxiety....so......looking at the cause of the anxiety is where it needs to start. For me, when I started working in the medical field and learning about bacteria and it's transmission.....this is when I stopped putting my hands in my mouth. I sympathize with nail bitters because I have been there. When I work with young teens, I work with them on being able to recognize situations that cause their anxiety, and healthy techniques to decrease the anxiety. I do the same for small children....teaching them how to calm down and do healthy activities instead of putting their hands in their mouths. I know that it's a challenge for nail techs, but it can be done. When you work with a client that bites their nails, and continue to encourage them in a positive manner, both you and the client will be able to see growth not only in the individual themselves, but also in the growth of the nails.....and that's a win for the both of you!

I'm not a biter, but a picker, peeler, ripper, plus I hair pull, too, and body pick. I take anxiety medication but still struggle, especially when I'm anxious or stressed. Please, don't feel shame, anyone! It's not just a "bad habit" or a willpower issue. At least there are things like nail extensions, microblading, hair extensions, false eyelashes, etc - that can help a person feel less self conscious about the destruction sometimes done to oneself.

😂😂 i used to bite my own nails all the time because they would rip on corner on me, i figured out that acrylic would make them stronger so i wouldnt have that side rip of my nail where i would have to bite them off or end up losing my nail bed because of it. i wore acrylics for years and years. i told my nail tech once what was happening with the edges of my nails they would just rip and i would end up biting the nail off to save the rest. we came to the conclusion that square nails are not for my natural nails, i would if i was going to wear them natural have to carry a file and file them so the edges were rounded off so it wouldn't split or wear acrylics for the rest of my life. course my nails still break but they aren't nail bit short anymore because of the rip, also my thumb nail because i stayed on top of it is surpringly a small almond shape. i just have to keep on top of it. that in this day and age is not easy to do! i also learned that my nails split on the side because of not getting the right nutrition i needed when i was younger and now the calcium to grow strong nails so its acrylic or gel or gel polish to keep them strong

I use to be a nail biter all my life. Even when I wore acrylics. I loved hearing the cracking of the acrylic. I started using hard gels 5 years ago and I’ve cured my nail biting habit 99%. I tell myself if I have the urge, just chew on my thumb nail. Plus I threw the boyfriend out. I more stress. 😝

This was just the best!! Will it be ok that I share this on my salon page, because I completely agree with you! Clients will never admit that they pulled on their nails and bitten them off and they just expected us to belive this... I Loved this video! Thank you. Nice to here it out of other professionals. Also have I learned out of your video of 50% nail plate en 49% free edge. Please can you explain this more by example of different nail bed length and more. Would be interesting to learn more on this matter please.

I was doing good for 4 weeks. Then has an allergy reaction which lead to removing all products for natural polish option which lead to peeling of that polish which lead to a late night nextflix binge that lead to chewing off any length I had saved from product removal process. Ugh now I have gross fingers. 😭😭😭😭

I think nail biting is hereditary and also a symptom of anxiety. I decided one day when I was a teenager that I didn’t bite anymore, but then I attacked my toenails. Nowadays I do hard gel and wear Long Fancy Nails™️ because I love them but bonus I can’t peel my toes like grapes with long enhancements. I now do my daughter’s nails because they bite like self-harm like I used to do. And after a year or so, their nail beds are recovering. I think in certain circumstances nail enhancements should be eligible for medical reimbursement.

I was a nail biter myself..... BUT, for me, personally..... Don't like to work on nail biters. Bad habits don't change easily. It's alot of work and alot of time just for them to bite it again. If they commit to not bite, I might reconsider.

Oh that's a proven disease because it's mental. I don't think that's nice of you. You don't do it on purpose. I could cry because you talk like that, you're ashamed to have nails like that yourself. But increasing the amount and calling it a punishment.
