    So, shouldn’t I start with A since it is the beginning of the musical alphabet or can I pick a random note and start with that?

    But, is the process first natural notes, and then flats and sharps? Do we have to learn every note with the index finger?

    It’s not really based on natural notes although you could do that. It’s more based roughly on the circle of 5ths. But it doesn’t matter what note you pick to practice on any given day just make sure you eventually cover all 12 pitches. We have a handy check off list as well you can use to measure your sucess! The reason that it’s a good idea to practice using your first finger each time is two-fold. One, it gets you acclamated to making leaps or shifts with the fretting hand but it also will train you to have your hand in the right playing position for the pentatonic minor blues patterns (there’s 5 of those).
