**BEST** Way To Install Foot Control Steering

Today I'm going to show you guys my new favorite way to install foot control steering for stern mount motor. In the past I've installed the foot braces under the front plate on my Hobie Pro angler but in this video ill be installing them above the plate on the H Rail. This is the preferred method if you want to be able to use keep your in hull rod storage. This method is also great for standing and steering which is quickly becoming my favorite way to fish turning your kayak into a mini bass boat. Ive attache links to the steering kit which you can get from the Dugout Bait and Tackle and they will ship it to you faster than Amazon. I've also added a discount code for the Newport motor that I use. be sure to use it if your inn the market for a motor it saves you money and helps me on referral points.

Got to see this setup 1st hand at PK yesterday. Great instructional video. Will be a great option for my NK180pro. Thanks!

What size drill bit did you use for the tube access hole? I just purchased a nk180 pro and I’m excited about the foot steering! And getting that heavy motor guide off the front of my hobie.

@stephenmorgan6951 I really don’t remember exactly what size it was. I just pick my bit just big enough for the tubing to squeeze through. Start small and work up until it fits.

Another great video. A year ago you did a video about your kayak setup in which you spoke about your Tennessee Kayak Trailer with rod locker. Still using the trailer? Can you share with me what that trailer cost? Thanks.

I’m still using the Tennessee Trailer. I really can’t remember the price off the top of my head. I believe it was in the 5k range with the boxes

So you didn’t mushroom the tubing in the rear of the kayak. Just super glue. How has that held up? Just curious

I only mushroomed the tubing in the cockpit area and put a dab of glue on it. At the back I pulled the slack snug and glued it in place. Once the glue dries I cut off the extra tubing.

It has held up really well. That’s the third kayak I’ve used only the glue in the back.

How difficult is it to turn, while at full speed? The faster I throttle, I get more resistance when trying to foot steer with my setup. I ran the tube externally outside the kayak, and haven't moved it inside the kayak yet. Just curious if it performs different or not.

With everything adjusted properly it’s extremely easy.

@@garrettwadefishing Sounds like i need to make some adjustments. Mine turns super easy when under 4mph, but then it progressively gets more difficult. But I think I know what the culprit is. Cheers!
