There should be a national-level discussion as to whether we need to change type of exams for UPSC. ‘Human knowledge’ is so vast that if we start to learn about everything, there is no end. Exam pattern must include numerical reasoning tests, logical reasoning tests, personality tests, situational judgement test etc. followed by technical competency in their area of interest or a similar process where it is tested how an individual will think in a new emerging scenario as well as old scenarios. I don’t know what exactly should be changed, but we need some changes for UPSC exam pattern and include some better evaluation techniques. Also, many people want to become IAS/IRS for the status in society, which in my opinion, should be treated like any other profession like engineers, doctors, scientist or teacher. Is a scientist working on finding solution on climate change, finding new ways of producing electricity anyway less than an IAS? This sort of atmosphere of treating one profession like a king of district is very unfortunate. In a matured and informed democracy, every profession needs to be respected.

Ek responsible post me liye knowledge hona jaruri hai. Peon aur IPS ka exam level ek hi kar diya jaaye ya phir level easy kar dete hai. This is was and never will be solution.

There is a reason behind the toughness of this exam.. we cannot judge out County's status with others. Indian administration is quite challenging on its own due to many factors be it education or poverty or be it some people's attitude like people will pee on the wall where specifically written not to pee. Soo taking a tough exam will ensure the people who are getting these post are not someone who can be easily demotivated or scared

​@@Aspire771 the real reason why exams are very tough in India as compared to other countries is population and no. of unemployed people. Here exams are not conducted to select an employe for the post but it is done to reject the mass and get the creamy filtered layer.

Youucan simply watch newlaper analysis they cover all the information in jyst 1 hour it will save your time and energy.

I respect her for what she has achieved and all those who achieved ranks in years before 2020.. But after 2019 exam UPSC has changed everything.. Even the elimination technique is also misfiring gun now. If you clear prelims, you can guarantee a selection, but up until that it is just trial n error. There is not definite way to clear it.
