I picked up a Doxa Sub200 this weekend. I went to the jewelry store looking to pick up a Tudor Black Bay or Longines Legend Diver, and fell in love with the Doxa. At $900 it felt like a real value. Seriously, it was the best of the 3 watches in terms of fit and finish. I never "got" Doxa until I wore it, and that bracelet is the BEST one I've ever worn, hands down.

Your video popped up and was interested when you mentioned the Hydroconquest and then the Murph. Finally there was the CW C63. I've looked at all these watches but just happened to have my blue 39mm CW63 on. I cannot recommend this watch enough, the feel and finishing on the Sealander blows the other two out of the water. I went into a Tudor boutique and decided to keep my money rather than but the BB58. I went into a jewellers who were a Rolex AD and they were very interested in the C63. My two Omegas have spent a lot of time in the watch box since I've had the C63. BTW, my wrist is 6.75 inches and the 39mm is fine. Great comparison.

Out of those three watches I'd choose the CW by far even though i really like the Murph. I have gone with the CW and could do the 36 size, but I'm wearing the white dial 39 right this minute on my 7-inch wrist. I also have the black dial version. So versatile. The bader bracelet is outstanding, but I also bought the dressier Consort bracelet, which I've grown to like more than expected. With these two watches and bracelets, I can mix several great combinations before even switching to leather straps. I would love a longer power reserve, but it's not that big of a deal.

The Murph has a display case back, it’s not meant to be a real field watch. You can’t fault it for not having AR. It’s primarily an aesthetic watch. Not having AR coating makes it more aesthetic and nostalgic. It’s nice that it has a proper WR, so it can be worn pretty much all the time.

Agree with what you are saying about the 3 watches. However, the CW has only 38 hr power reserve. If you're wearing the watch everyday that's not a problem, but if you wearing it in a rotation it's more problematic. I was looking at Tag Heuer 36 and 39mm casual watches similar to the CW. The 36mm has a longer power reserve than the 39mm because they haven't updated the movement yet. For an average buyer that may not matter, but at this point I want the longer power reserve. Glashutte Original has smaller diver that has a 38-40hr power reserve and its about 10K. Yes, the movement is nice, but I don't get that value proposition at all. That Longines is really the best value in the group all things considered.

I actually went to the AD with every intention of buying the Hamilton Murph but neither the 38 or 42 spoke to me so I ended up walking out with a Jazzmaster. I love Longines and have a Spirit 42 but I'm not as obsessed with divers as others appear to be. I'm seriously considering the CW although I would really like to have an Oyster Perpetual or an Aqua Terra but would need to put in some serious saving to achieve either of them. Decisions decisions 🤔

@@coldpizzawatchreviewsdue to the design of its case that has a fairly short lug to lug, the Doxa 300T wears a lot smaller than its specs would lead you to believe. I have a 6.75in wrist and it fits better than my 41mm submariner. Plus, they now have the 200T which is basically a mini version of the 300T (with significantly less water resistance and no HEV). Doxa hands down makes the best dive watches for under $2k.

New subscriber here. I agree with your choice, and I'm also really happy to see a Sellita movement in a watch, for exactly the reasons you stated. I'm a hobbyist watchmaker myself, and I feel better knowing that I could get parts for it. I particularly like the SW300 (and variants), but the SW200 is reliable & keeps good time. The SW200 often gets knocked for an issue with ratchet wheels losing their teeth, but it's a non-issue if you know about it. Simply don't vigorously hand wind the watch when it already has >20% reserve & let the automatic module do its thing. Anyhow, for being a "niche" hobby, it's incredible to me how many worthwhile channels there are.

These are sound and excellent choices. But the best advice is to take the $1000 and continue to save until you have $1800 buy yourself a lightly used Tudor Royal or save the $2500 and get the new one. Pound for pound finest luxury watch in fit and finish sub 3K no other watch matters. Frankly don’t buy any of these watches they aren’t true luxury. When you handle even a 3K longine you’ll see and feel the difference.

I like to switch off watches. The CW movement with 38 hour power reserve, is just not good enough. If I am paying a $1,000 on a watch, I am not thinking of selling it. I would use it as a beater watch. I would probably go with the Longines. 72 hour power reserve. Fits my 7.25 wrist fine. If CW put their SH21 movement in it, instead of that ugly skeleton, I would be very interested in buying it.

I was recommended this video and I hadn't seen this channel before. I am disappointed it is yet another channel only recommending new watches. There is a lot of good value on the used market for $1,000 but it is difficult to navigate for a non-enthusiast and that is where a youtuber can add value. I will not be watching other videos from this channel as there are other channels that just show off new watches and do it better than this one. One reason to only show new watches is if you are sponsored or an authorized dealer, but this channel is so small I do not think that is the case here.
