Best Walks in DEVON - INSTOW to BIDEFORD to WESTWARD HO! - SW Coast Path National Trail
We are walking the 630 mile long South West Coast Path National Trail in England. In March 2024 we spent a long weekend in Devon, with the aim of completing further stages of this amazing route. In this vlog, we commence our route in Instow, heading for Westward Ho!, taking in Bideford along the way, a total route of 11 miles plus.
We plan to complete the entire route over coming months between work and everyday life, plus for logistical reasons, we may complete different stages of the route and fill in the gaps as we go along! We’ll share the entire route, interesting points of interest, plus if we feel it appropriate, we’ll also point out recommended accommodations and places to eat!

'Gooseypool' sounds like the sort of place name I'D make up.
Simon & Elaine, you brought back more memories for us with this section of the SWCP. When we did it we wrongly crossed the Torridge Bridge! We realised our mistake back in the self catering cottage we were staying in and had to go back to Bideford to cross the correct bridge and sections either side of the Torridge Bridge (the next morning) just so we didn’t miss any bit of the SWCP off! Glad to see you back on the trail, Tim & Selina

Aaah, thank you both, some parts of the SWCP can be confusing, easy to take the wrong route sometimes!

good use of the old rail car turning it into a little cafe/restaurant, cool walk thru the town of Appledore, nothing better than an ice cream to finish a day of hiking

Unbelievably small cups! One sip...gone!
The muddy trail was muddy and mild. The Tarka trail was a little 'otter.

The stone signs are gradient indicators for the railway. The number shows how steep it is and the angle shows whether it's uphill or down. The one at 5'30", if you walked from left to right, means you have just climbed up a 1 in 5000, now stood at the peak and about to go down a 1 in 1303 slope..
