Whether bought in-game or from the pledge store, the Cutty Black is arguably the best value ship for what it offers for the price. It was the first ship I bought in-game, and I think any player would have fun with its versatility, quirks, and charms.

@@ViciDeum I just started playing a bit of SC and I remember during free fly week or whatever they call it, the Cutlass Black I flew the most and loved. The fact I can actually upgrade my pledge ship from starter to this for $75 instead of going all $115, you bet im upgrading to this. I mean cmon, SC basically made the Star Citizen ship mimicking the Razor Crest but with more firepower, who wouldnt want this ship?! lol

Hahaha, happy to convert you over to the Drake side of things! The Cutlass Black is probaby the most popular ship in star citizen, and for good reason! It’s got a ton of utility, a really convenient design, and downright iconic looks! And while I personally gravitate towards larger ships and other dog fighters for my day-to-day, it’s impossible to deny the place that the Black has carved for itself in-game!

I will never SELL my CB. I bought it 3 yrs. Ago as my starter ship. I use it for everything. Great video BTW.

You’re very welcome! I’ve had so much fun making these videos, and couldn’t wait to do one on the Cutlass Black! And piracy was always number one for this ship hahaha. But the cutlass black really is a fantastic multi-role ship, and an excellent upgrade in the medium size category, for either a new player or any solo pilot looking to round out their fleet! It has great utility, capability, and the no frills interior makes it a veritable intergalactic Swiss Army knife! I use mine to carry my ROC on light mining runs. I fly around and locate the rocks in the cutty, land and deploy the ROC. I think it does a better job of it than a Nomad. And once the tractor beam is functional it'll probably be even better, since it'll probably be easier to load and unload the ROC using it, especially on planets/moons with rougher terrain that make using the ramp a pain.

I love to take mine out for ROC mining and Mercenary missions.

It’s a fantastic ROC carrier and works really well for running Mercenary and Bunker missions! And once further physicalization is introduced, those gun racks and lockers will be increasingly useful for storing even more loot! Just started SC about a week ago. Grabbed the Mustang Alpha starter, and I just upgraded that ship to the CB last night. Can't wait to utilize this baddie, the potential seems almost limitless. (Side Note: I love how both of my ships have been named after some of my favorite muscle cars, adds a nice touch)

The Cutlass Black, along with the Avenger Titan are two ships that really maintain a fervent love in the Star Citizen community! I completely understand the feeling of wanting to upgrade up from those ships, only to be drawn back to it for its utility and design! Although it’s sort of an ugly duckling, I feel very similar for the Constellation Andromeda, even though it doesn’t have that same fan base, I just love it’s functionality! @@UbiScoop It really is a shame! Even if it was the intended feature, I think they could’ve held off on implementing that respawn change for some time longer! But the Cutlass red is an excellent ship in general, and one that can leverage a lot of utility beyond just its medical features!

That’s a solid strategy! And honestly I’d use the Cutter to save up enough to rent a Titan, then rent an Andromeda; using both to make money bounty hunting, then purchase the Cutlass in-game!

The Cutlass Black is truly incredible, and such an amazing ship that has a well-deserved following! It has tremendous utility, great combat and an amazing design! It really is the logical next starter ship step up from the Avenger Titan! And thank you for taking the time to watch this video and share thoughts, I really appreciate your engagement!

If I may ask, how does the shielded cargo for smuggled goods work? Does this happen automatically or do I need to do something for this to happen? Is this still a thing in 3.17.1? I greatly appreciate any information on this.

Great question! Currently the shielded cargo isn’t properly implemented (we unfortunately don’t have info when this will be either), but when it is finally introduced, it’ll be an automatic feature that prevents (or makes it extremely difficult) to scan your shielded cargo hold and identify what items you’re carrying! This will be a useful feature in bypassing blockades and other security scans for smuggling in game!

money isn't really an issue for me neither is performance of the game, I will most likely only play the game solo, I've played in free fly's before and want to get into it, would you recommend the avenger titan or the cutlass black as a starter ship more? (I want to focus on bounty hunting but still retain the ability to diversify.)

Definitely the Titan! It’s virtually perfect as a starter ship and a really great entry into the game. After, you can rent the Cutlass inexpensively in game at any rental kios, and test it out in the verse to see if you like it’s handling and performance! If you do, you can just upgrade the Titan to the Cutlass in the pledge store and pay the difference 😁👍

I use it for bunker missions and loot. You can take guns and narcotics

@@Nzchimeran That’s a fantastic question, although no one really knows when it’ll be fully implemented for sure! But I suspect we’ll see the next iteration in reselling, then physicalized cargo, and future updates throughout this year! But even now, you can still use the gun racks to store FPS weapons if your ship inventory happens to fill up or if you want a convenient set of extras when exploring or just grouping up with friends!

So I know it's been months since this posting, but do you know if the rented version that has only fore and aft shielding is the only way it comes, or does a purchased Cutty have full shielding?

That’s a great question! The shield facings cover the entire ship but the emitters are in the fore and aft on both the rented and purchased versions!

Where is this 1 scu shielded and tractor beam?

Both are currently unusable, but the 1 SCU of shielded cargo is broken up into 0.25 SCU radio shielded boxes wall mounted throughout the ship, and the tractor beam is spec’d with the Cutlass and hopefully going to be released soon 🤞

Anybody have their cutty spawn without turret guns? Tried everything but a character reset but may have to try that too

I have noticed this issue, although on other ships. Unfortunately it’s a bug in Star Citizen, although there are a few workarounds that may help. You could try claiming this ship at another location, or try removing the turret guns in vehicle manager, spawning the ship and then storing before re-adding them again. Beyond that, you could re-purchase the turret guns and seeing if the new ones work. Besides that, a character reset may be your only option. But good luck, I hope it fixes itself for you!

Jump into Arena Commander and customize it there. In the past the Persistent Universe and Arena Commander have affected each other some.

Why is it that when there are talk about - Bounty Hunting? Is always space combat - What about the ground bounties? - And the ship don't offer any prisoner holding cells - Is there any news on that part?

That’s a good point! At the moment ground bounties are easily completed using any ship, but once pilot seats limit your weapon and armor choices (only a flight suit, helmet and handgun), ships like the Black will become far more useful in the future. And the Cutlass variant, the Blue, is a ship (along with the Avenger Stalker) that offer prisoner holding cells! These currently don’t have much in game use, but will be expanded once the bounty hunting gameplay is further refined!

@@thegothicsoul9598 Unfortunately modularity has been set on the back burner atm, so we likely won’t see any updates to that anytime soon. They are still planned, but sadly nothing in the near future.

Hang on. Jump seats and tractor beams? Where and how?

There are 6 jump seats in the back of the Cutlass by the rear ramp, you can open them up and sit back there if you’d like! The tractor beam along with the 315p, Taurus and others are still in development, but slated for release sometime soon (I suspect Q4 of this year or Q1 of next). This is a special mount that will help to ferry items onboard and assist in “legal salvage” operations 😂👍 It should give these ships a lot of added utility, especially after physicalized cargo is properly implemented! I was super interested in cutty red until I found out today they nerfed the bed spawn, so now it's just a glorified flying med pen. It DOES have the blinky lights and spotlight turret though..... Hmmm....

The Cutty Red did have a lot of utility with respawn beforehand! Even though it was intended to return back I still miss it as well! Although the spotlight and blinking lights are very cool haha. But it’ll be interesting to see how it develops in game loops going forward, because it is really just a floating med pen at this point haha. Ship-based tractor beams are not in the game yet. I would not mention that as a current feature. -::::- Personally, I prefer the Freelancer over the Cutlass Black.

While they aren’t in the game yet, they are a very useful, intended feature for this ship. This series covers both features and ships still in concept, but in order to best showcase their uses, I will continue to cover all their intended aspects, shown at the time of recording. That said,we have no reason to believe they would remove this feature from the game, or from the Cutlass Black specifically for that matter.
