This is true, on the South Coast its mild enough to overwinter them outside most years. We just remove the leaves and place a builders bad over the top. If they don't get basel rot they have always regrown in the spring. We have done this for 6 years now and lost just two specimens. Love this plant. I watched that Monte Don series in Italy recently where I think a guy called it the phoenix banana because of its ability to grow back from what effectively looks like a dried husk. Simon

Did you ever discover what the lovely plant at around 4.40 is?? Great video, really must go to wisley!!

Hi there, no we are really sorry. There labeling at Wisley can be a bit hit and miss and this was one of the specimens that we couldn't find a lable for. However my best guess is to say a ginger lily of indeterminate selection! Kind regards Simon and Lorna

I think that your unidentified plant is the Hibiscus shown on the label at about 1.06 minutes into the video ... Hibiscus moscheutos Carousel Red Wine ('Tahi61' PBR)
