    Awesome job Heath! I think you pretty much covered all the aspects of king mackerel trolling......lures, lure colors, line (wire), trolling speed... I also like to troll with yozuri and rapala crankbaits, they work well also. Tight lines Capt. and keep up the great work!

    Thanks a million for watching leaving some great feedback and sharing. I also have a couple of diving lures that range from small sizes two very large that I use but I always find myself more often than not using either the white feather or a strip bait lure. Could just be me being lazy though. Always great to hear from you. I truly appreciate you taking time out of your life to stop by and chat with me. Thanks again for everything you've done. Tight lines & take care ;)

    Hi Catherine thanks a million for watching. Yes sir those strip bait lures are the way to go. I remember you telling me about when you called that wahoo. We do have some giant wahoo off our coast. Thanks for the invite I'd love to do a sword trip with you eventually. Got some major changes coming to the channel in the up-and-coming weeks everything is going to get real interesting. Going to keep myself and everyone who watches real entertained. Never a dull moment. Always great to hear from you and getting to chat with you. Thanks again for all your support. Tight lines & take care ;)

    I'm new to you channel but I really enjoy it. You're more of a true working class angler that has proven it doesn't take a ton of money to fish big or small fish. I found a blow out sale of Berkley Buck tail jigs from #1 to #4's in green, blue & white. They were $2.50 ea. ( I bought them all). I looked throughout your videos for fishing for kingfish without a planer?? I live in the Tampa Bay Area and other than the channel of the skyway bridge (60+' deep) the waters are shallow (12-45' deep) unless you go out 30 + miles to 85' etc. we have a 17' Whaler which handles choppier water better than any of my other boats but I like (at my age) to stay approximately 15 or so miles out ( 35 - 45 ft. Depth). Thanks for your show. I wish the other local shows explained techniques as well as you and were down to earth when it comes to spending hard earned money.

    Thanks a million for watching leaving some great feedback and sharing your story. I've tried several manufacturers of bucktail jigs and I always seem to end back up fishing with spro. Hopefully in the future I get to do some sort of Apple to apples comparison who knows maybe it'll show me that there are other productive jigs out there. And that maybe I just have old dog new trick syndrome. Small boats rule. Not just because I'm an avid small vessel guy I like the small fuel bill annually. All jokes aside there's absolutely nothing wrong with a small boat I've taken my boat 50 mi East to the Bahamas no problem. They get the job done they just have a smaller fuel tank and you need to be aware of that. also you don't want to be caught out in the ocean if a storm blows up on a smaller boat. other than that playing it safe and being smart about anything dealing with the ocean or maritime nuances is always best policy. Thanks again for your support of the channel I truly and sincerely appreciate it and the compliments. Good luck in your fishing adventures I hope you get out there and slay em. Tight lines & take care ;)

    Awesome video again, Heath. How are the distances back from the planer different from the drone spoon to the tuna feather to the sea witch strip bait setups? Different between them or can they be the same?

  • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing

    Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question. the distances are the same I use the same leader to switch out for a lures about a hundred feet of 60 lb monofilament. you want that later to get you far enough away from the planter so it doesn't spook to fish and then have some fun handline am in once you retrieve planner. thanks again for your support of the channel I truly and sincerely appreciate it. Hope this helps. Tight lines & take care ;)

    Great info as usual Heath. Unfortunately im going on my 3rd month(4th if including my first yamaha catastrophic failure) of not having my boat due to engine failures on my 2021 yamaha XTO 425s. Sadly im looking forward to beach fishing since my $100k in yamahas need parts only available in Japan and only delivered by yamaha ninja shipping...very exclusive apparently! Great advice either was. Looking forward to catching them next year with my new Mercury engines....

    Wow that is a true bummer. I totally agree huge problems like this and the engines are a year old. At least there's a silver lining behind it with you looking forward to next year and Mercury's. Those are some solid engines. Speaking from experience. Hopefully the wait and your patience will pay off big-time for you. That hundred-thousand-dollar price tag is giving me sticker shock and it's not my boat. Regardless I hope everything works out for you as best as it possibly can in the end. Thanks again for all your support couldn't have gotten this far without you you'll be back out on that boat before you know it. Tight lines & take care ;)

    Hi Heath, I think you have covered every aspect of Kingfish lures. If the fishermen follow your tips, they should be on the fish in no time. Unfortunately there are no Kingfish here in Missouri. Say "Hi" to the "Fish Slayer" and the "Fishing Girls." Hope you have a good weekend and I'll talk to you on Sunday. Good luck, Mickey

    Hi Mickey thanks for watching. Always makes my day go better to hear from you and get the chat with you. It's kind of good that there's no king fish in Missouri that way they can stay here and I can catch them. I don't know that I'd be able to keep up with a pro like yourself. All the kids say "Hi Mickey". Everyone is doing fine here they're looking forward to the upcoming holidays. Starting to plan my relocation to the keys it's a little bit more work than I expected but the payoff will be huge. Thanks again for always being here. Hope everything is well with you and your family. Talk to you on Sunday. Take care :)

    Hi Heath, Thankfully my family is well. By the way, you are the fishing pro. I like being on the water and catching a fish is a bonus for me. Are you moving the boat or are you moving the family to the Keys? I love the Keys. There are so many fishing opportunities and places to fish all year. I'm glad your family's well and Bijoux is back to normal. Take care and I'll talk to you on Sunday. Have a good weekend, Mickey

    Hi , for trolling you're using a heavy rod and line , isn't there another way ? I saw some rubber bands used attached to the planer on a separate line , is that a good solution for not having to invest in a separate rod and reel equipment just for trolling ? Just a banjo with heavy line for the planer hooked up to a cleat and light equipment with a snap swivel attached to a rubber band ? Maybe you can give me some insights of the pros and cons on it as I have never seen you use this style. You've got a great channel and I learned a lot.

  • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing

    Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question. Always a pleasure hearing from you and being able to chat and help. yes the method you were talking about hooking an independent planer to a cleat on a line and then using lighter gear like a spinning reel is definitely a viable one. it's funny that you mentioned this because I'm working on an episode explaining exactly how to do this. The one major problem that you have with it however, if you get a short strike and the fish doesn't hit violently enough to snap the rubber bands you won't know and you'll be trolling around a chewed-up bait. If you are trolling your planer on the heavier gear the slightest resistance against the bait will trip the planer and you know something is up with the business end of your line. that's one of the major issues using this method is the uncertainty that you're bait has not been hit. Hope this helps. thanks again for all your support of the channel I truly and sincerely appreciate it. Thanks again. Tight lines & take care ;)

    Hi Heath. I’m new to fishing this area (Boca/Hillsboro)... I never see any videos from you catching mangrove snapper and I’ve only caught them further south where they are everywhere (especially in the keys). Do we have them in large numbers and I’m just missing them?

  • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing

    @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing

    Thanks a million for watching and asking for a question. Yes there are mangrove snapper in these Waters. They're typically over the shallow first reef in about 20 to 30 ft. Or you can find them on the rocky shoals up towards the beach in about 8 to 10 ft of water. You just have to charm them up and be patient and fish through the other fish that are not your targeted species sometimes but they are there. Hope this helps. Thanks again for your support of the channel I truly appreciate it. Tight lines & take care ;)

    Hi Heath, another great video! Great to see all the different options out there. Do you always have the Bonita strip hang out about 5 inches past the sea witch? Does this apply to using a chugger lure? Thanks again

  • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing

    @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi Rick thanks a million for watching and asking the right question. with the Bonita strip I don't always use it but when I do yeah it hangs out about 5 to 6 in past the trailing hooks. I don't really use Bonita strips on top water lures if that's what you're asking about the chugger. I really only use them on a planer down deep... don't know why but it doesn't really seem to make a difference when they are up on top. Hope this helps answer your question. thanks again for all your support it's always great hearing from you and being able to chat with you. Couldn't have come this far without your help.
