... good info on an interesting style of trekking pole .. I'm a huge fan of walking staff and trekking poles , many uses for trekking poles besides common hiking support .. .. was going to comment on the cork handles and porcupines , but you beat me to it ,, also same problem with cork handled fishing poles ,, case them up and put in pack or at least tent ..

I have the Crappy Tire version of this but they have foam handles and cost about $15 more if I remember right. Pretty sure they were $55 or $60 CAD. I haven't had issues with the foam handles but cork makes more sense to me.

@@MattyOutdoors yup they do and not all are junk, although now after watching this perhaps a bit overpriced! Mine have held up pretty good but less than 50km on them as of now.

I've had these for a year. There's a lot of flex in them which means you don't get the push off that you should. I much prefer the Cascade "carbon" poles which are lighter and about the same price though pack larger. I did get these for river wading when fly fishing and they are great for that, just not great for hiking.

@@MattyOutdoors Most of the flex is at the top joint with the button, there's almost 1mm of gap there. Maybe a QC issue.

@@MattyOutdoors Chinese QC strikes again! I did buy mine more than a year after yours, they might have changed manufacturing method/factory, who knows. Both of mine have the same play/flex.

I am still trying to determine if the small round and flat circles that go on the bottom of the poles are worth using, two different sizes are included in the Trekology poles package.

Theres a cable all the way through, that holds tension when you lock the non adjustable part in place, so it can't come apart.
