I don’t own anything Traxxas, but this has got to be one of the most useful and impactful factory afterthoughts I’ve seen. It all fits together perfectly! Great job in covering it all so well in this tutorial. I hope Traxxas is now using low cg platform in their current trucks, so people don’t have to do as ll this. Great job Troy. @@RoadsideRC the main reason is because they sell so many of them for spec racing and for mud boss racing many people use the high cg chassis for spec racing that’s why they still make them this way they sell a TON OF THEM LOL

I don't even how a Traxxis Slash, don't know why i watched this video fully :'D But it was very well detailed without unneeded waffle, good one ! Happy New Year Troy and Family :)

@@4reelfishing635 Those will be two completely different tires. Apex in Murfreesboro is not welcoming for a 4WD SCT. For RC Farm, I have been using Pro-line Holeshot tires.

Great simple how to video, typical Traxxas though. Getting you to buy something twice, about time they started to fit the lcg chassis as standard. One of the reasons I dont buy Traxxas is when theirs flawes in their designs they dont put it right, they just want to sell the customer redesigned upgrades & still sell the flawed design products.

I agree - this LCG chassis should be standard!

I’ve always been a crawler guy, but I’m considering some kind of go fast truck and I think I’ve narrowed it down to the Slash VXL 2WD. This looks like a very good upgrade right off the bat.

It's awesome. Goes very fast depending on battery type and gearing combo used (pinion/tooth). Doing donuts on dirt is pretty cool. 2WD is the way to go.

Isn’t there some advantages to keeping the higher OG chassis? Like better on jumps and better on rough terrain and grass, etc?

Nope - basically no benefit. Just an older design. I would recommend this swap to anyone who owns this truck.

The stock Slash is basically a Stampede with a pancake for a chassis instead of a brick, while the "LCG" chassis is more or less a nice Rustler, lots of old DNA in that platform.

Lots of sharing of parts between them - no doubt.

Other then the springs and chassis, are the other parts the same as the the original parts that came with the truck? Like the front mounting plate, nerf bars and battery hold down?

Everything you need is included in the kit! The other parts are the same.

Why not mod the centre of gravity with a DIY battery package casing underneath to lower gravity on the standard body ? Including aluminium protection plates underneath.

Check the video - it changes more than just the cog. Also - more weight isn't good - less weight is key to speed.

How did you shorten the servo linkage?

Just curious if you took this back to the track after the lcg conversion to compare lap times.

Unfortunately, no. They changed the track layout so I couldn't really get a good comparison.

Does the Low CG chassis still qualify for Spec Slash?

I didn't get a chance to run it. But - all logic says it has to be better.

I did mine and now when I turn left it turns right and right turns left I’m lost I’m new to this any help thanks.

You can reverse the servo direction. Check the controller manual to see how to do it.

Can you use the LCG for just regular bashing? Links not for drag

Yes! Much better and stronger for bashing as well. I seriously don't know why this chassis isn't the standard part.

It does not. Starts at a similar base trim.

Did they do a black lcg for this? I found one but doesn't seem to come with all the extra bits that the blue one has

Just some cheapo tires off of Amazon. They are HARD AS A ROCK. :)

The 4WD and 2WD share almost zero pieces, so a conversion would be very expensive.

Mud Boss racing uses the old chassis. They look like late model dirt round track cars when all decked out. Basically a spec class so people can go dirt round track racing on the cheap. About the only thing you are allowed to change is the body (naturally) , springs, gearing, and a metal servo arm. It's a pretty sweet class of racing cos it's affordable and it's all up to the driver and being able to tune your stock shocks. Hell they even use the Traxxas Slash factory tires and wheels. Check it out!
