Even though I am very happy with WotC decision about the SDR 5.1 we need to better understand that playing other ttrpgs is something we should encourage. We need to support diversity

I have to say I'm hoping this whole fiasco will kick off a new age in RPGs. I didn't care for 5e to begin with, but it seems that most wanted nothing to do with anything that wasn't 5e. We used to play a host of various games and systems, but people became nearly monolithic in rule sets with 5e. While not a huge departure, I convinced some to try out Castles and Crusades for some classic play. Hoping to convince some players to play GURPS which is one of my favorites. To be honest, I enjoy trying different rules. Many seemed to forget about that aspect of gaming. Finally my home group is willing to play something else. I for one, am happy.

@@jabelardo I've always enjoyed exploring different game mechanics and tend to pick and choose. I still often employ a char gen auction from Amber. I use a leadership/combat mechanic loosely based on Conan. I enjoy fresh ideas. Hopefully this whole thing will be a needed kick in the pants.

Archives of Nethys. I own all the "rule" books and a fair amount of the "lore" books and yet still when I need to know a rule quick I turn the archives of Nethys. It's so handy.

Another encounter builder to look at is Mimic Fight Club which as you may be able to guess is a PF2e version of Kobold Fight Club and is pretty good. The guy making Pathbuilder is also setting up an encounter builder and more GM tools as well from the sounds of it, which will be really nice!

Regarding your end tag about needing to significantly refactor your campaign based on something the PCs do, I play for such moments. That is the good stuff and what makes DMing/GMing so enjoyable. It’s can make you want to pull your hair out sometimes but so so worth it.

I totally get the bitter feelings about D&D. I'm taking a break from D&D, one day I plan on going back to playing the game with the products I had bought a few years ago. I'm still going to buy third party content, but never will I buy anything from wotc and hasbro.

My friends and I have switched to Pathfinder recently and I kinda like it better, so far. It seems like it's easier for my party to tell me what they want to do, and pretty much no matter what they say - there's some sort of guideline in place for it.

For additional digital tools, there is Demiplane and hero lab. Both are partners with Paizo. They both have free options but to really unlock their potential you have a paywall. Additionally Demiplane is being made by the original creator of DND beyond. He left before the acquisition by WOTC for reasons that are becoming more clear. He made Demiplane not just for pathfinder but several other game systems too. Hero lab is primarily for character creation in multiple different game systems but it also has campaign tools as well. Have fun finding your path in the new system.

The problem with Demiplane is it locks the majority of its function behind full price digital purchases of the books. If you already have the books either physical or digital it doesn't care, buy them again if you want to use the program. I'd say it's great for brand new players and GMs getting into the game. But if you're a veteran, it's not worth it unless you have hundreds or thousands of dollars to just dump into rebuying everything to use an online tool.

You can always just drop character links into Discord as a way of keeping a party together. Would certainly be interested in seeing more PF2 stuff.

pathbuilder mobile is absolutely great, the UI isn't super pretty when you minimise it to a phone but it runs perfectly and makes sense. it's just a character sheet, but on your phone, no bells or whistles, which is really nice

Hello, great video. I do want to point out one inaccuracy about Pathbuiilder is that it does have a campaign management function. I admit I have not used it much other than to setup rules within my copy regarding what source materials our GM is allowing us to use. That being said you can import and export the campaign to other copies so others have the same rules for character building.

I probably could have reworded that section a bit. I've seen pathbuilder's campaign tool and poked around it a bit, but I think what I really want is a page I can go to that shows me every PCs character in the campaign and allows me to hop into their character sheet when I need to. But they could always get new campaign management features with time, and the rest of that site is pretty amazing

@@misfitadventurers I've been using Pathbuilder mobile app since 2019 when PF2e launched and the Campaign management is a relatively recent addition to the tool. I agree it would be great to have more features incorporated into it.

13:46 I suspect once OneDND is out WoTC will release content for that and will no longer release stuff under the old 1.0a. Meaning anyone wanting to do 5e stuff under 1.0a and the SRD 5.1 will have to take their stuff solely from third party developers. So, I wonder if WoTC (Hasbro) won't just try to create their own NEW community under OneDND.

I don't know if you're interested in checking out a new VTT, but I'd really suggest at least researching Foundry VTT and if it would work for your group. Not only does it have a truly excellent Paizo-approved* implementation of Pf2e with everything from AoN for free, it's also a one-time ($50) purchase unlike things like Roll20 and Fantasy Grounds. (Provided that you can host it on your desktop, otherwise you'll need to rent a server... But it's not hard to host.) In any case, I hope you keep enjoying Pf2e, it's a truly great system that really seems to be getting deeper with time. Which reminds me, are you aware of the upcoming new Class this summer? It's coming in the next big rulebook "Rage of Elements" and is called the Kineticist... It's definitely looking like a very unique class compared to anything else in Pf2e or 5e.

this is a great suggestion for when they get around to playing a lot of pathfinder. the PF support on foundry is near perfect. But while they do mostly 5E dont do foundry. its not that good there. (Note: the systems are community developed not foundry officially so its not foundrys fault)

Considering how much legally free resources for Pathfinder 2e is out there it is way way cheaper than D&D. No need to subscribe to D&D Beyond to share the content you already bought. The information any player and GMs need is available for free. When you start a campaign for Pathfinder 2e and need a VTT, I highly recommend Foundry VTT. It works very well with Pathfinder 2e and looks amazing.
