Treadwear is more important than Width
A 235/40 Nankang does not have as much grip as a 215/45 RS-RR. Don’t be fooled into thinking you need more width!
Nankang NS20’s: These tires last forever because of the relatively hard compound and high treadwear rating. I recommend if you’re a beginner.
Federal ss595: Great tire, great grip. Low Cost. Could be used as fronts, doesn’t have the preciseness I like.
Dunlop Direzza z2 Star Spec: Expensive, amazing grip and turn in response, use on as front tires only.
Achilles ATR Sports: Similar to Nankang, great overall life, lacks grip.
Some people prefer to have a balanced setup, but I like to run more PSI in the rear tires, which allows me to keep the tires spinning while out of grip.
Tires larger than a 235 are overkill for drifting! Smaller width better compound!

The 595 is a bit different for AutoX. The 595 is more of a stock class type of tire. For track, I've read nothing but bad reviews for them because the "grease" up after a couple of hot laps. I ran the RS-RR's for AutoX in my Miata and loved them… for the money.
