These sunhats are definitely most comfortable. I used to have this kind. 👍

If you haven’t got them, get a face gaitor and the neck shield. Both are super helpful for shading you. The neck shield can be used something like four different ways. I actually keep my face gaitor in the little pocket on top of the hat on my Seahawk.

I'll have to add that to my shopping list. I've had to retrieve hats in the water many times on windy days. I may be able to use less sun screen with a hat like that too.

It is so funny that you mentioned that Kevin! Shelta just sent me the wide brim and it arrived yesterday! As I recall, it's the Firebird? I am going to use it next week on a trip that I am doing down the Rio Grande outside of Albuquerque, New Mexico. I will report back how I like it. Hi Cliff: Shelta has a great website. I will definitely be getting a neck protector and hat. Off to the Bahamas soon and had fried my neck last year. Sunscreen is a rip-off and never lasts too. Many thanks !

Hi Cliff! This question is a little off topic, but I wondered if you could tell me about the red backpack you are wearing in your sun hat video intro. It looks super comfortable. The logo appears to be 2 mountains, but when I google it all I find are Gregory backpacks. I don’t see any on their site that are similar to the one you’re wearing. Also, just wanted to convey my appreciation for your content. I am selling my beloved hobie kayak (as it is just too heavy for me to manage any longer alone). I’ve been looking into lighter alternatives that can fit INTO my CRV and have loved all of your reviews. Many thanks! Elektra from RI

Hey 👋 there! You will certainly appreciate the lightness, portability, performance and quality of the Sea Eagle kayaks! I have actually gotten rid of all of my hardshell kayaks and now have five sea eagles. I really believe in the product! My backpack is a Gregory that I purchased at REI. Honestly, the best thing to do is go to REI and get fitted for a backpack. They will fit you perfectly with what fits your body in particular! You cannot go wrong with an REI fitting. It is a free service too! You will get the best fitting backpack you’ve ever had. Check them out!

Brim too short, sadly. Otherwise I'd be tempted to buy.

You are definitely right about that!

That hat doesn't provide any real sun protection on your face though... only your forehead looks shaded...

I probably should change out that thumbnail, it's not representative of how the hat functions. That photo was taken with a setting sun ☀️ in my face.

your sun hat you are wearing is NO GOOD. Your nose & cheeks will be sunburned .. I know. Trying to find something that will cover my whole face so I won't be sunscreened while I'm a crossing guard in full sun!
