Dude shhhhhhh! Quit telling people, i thought my dad was crazy when he showed me this 40yrs ago but i have seen this technic in hot weather or high pressured lakes catch giants. He would actually lay his rod down and every now and then give the reel handle a couple of turns. Then you would see his line swimming off and he would set the hook. This is old school magic. Shhhhh!

that is old school boringness.
I dead stick only when I am not thinking about it....... like when I am removing a back lash?!? :)

Much love man. I've been into bass fishing for a while now. I remember when you started doing big things in the industry and I was really happy to see someone like me and you do good. We both are firecrackers, we both don't take no crap. Thank you for all you do. I'm just the little guy trying to get my foot in there. Tournament fishing isn't really my gig, line testing and nerdy stuff it's my forte.
You have been an inspiration to me over the years. I have followed your career and used so many of the tips and tactics you have shared. Thank you for just being a great guy all around and one of the best angles of our time. Keep making great videos.

Wow, thank you! That means a lot! I will keep the videos coming twice a week! Never Give Up!
"The Jig is Up" Ike (lol) I always use this technic in the summer down here in central FL . I am mainly fishing for big bluegill with another rod this time of year but i'll cast out a senko on spinning gear with 8lb. mono and leave that rod lying there while I catch some Bream and after a while that line with the stickbait starts swimming off!!! I have caught some very nice largemouth this way but it's hard to Not move that bait when you love powerfishing like I do!!!
Don Iovino used to sell VHS tapes teaching this technique with his hand poured worms thirty years ago.

I'm still using Iovinos splash it. Can't beat em for a nice subtle popper. Great during a mayfly hatch

Still works all these years later
i had to learn to bass fish at castaic lake.. its heavy pressured from banks and limited shoreline on the upper and lower.. the lower gets hit by multiple people daily in its spots and the upper is similiar but maybe a little less pressured since you can hike if you are crazy to get to some areas that are nicer. but when water is high like now its a pain... everyone told me to catch.. go super slow... it took me like 6-8 times going out to just catch one fish a few hours each time. till i really started doing just that. so like when i do the senko style weightless texas.. i cast far.. and let it just sink straight down.. keep bail open and even on baitcaster leave it free and let it sink straight down.. works good.. most your hits will come on the drop or on the bottom from that drop.. very little on drag and work back in. some deadsticking.. and others on slow drag in.. with deadsticking.. shaking.. ect.. but most on drop. i also do drop shot.. same thing really.. even though i use 1/2 oz weight to dropshot.. a lot of my bites are on the drop.. straight down. or at that location after a little movement or even letting it sit.. some on drag ins working different cadences but most on the way down or at the bottom right near where it land. its all i fish here from shore year round.. i try to target more of the 10-25 foot ranges.. im not in tournament so i do slow drag ins and different cadences to work it back in everytime.. never reel back in super fast even though most of my catches do come off the drop or at the bottom of that drop.. sometimes big fish take some coaxing. sometimes all the way up to you and can even dedicate 1 foot from you if they dont see you and spook, which happens to me sometimes. which is annoying when you see the hog that just wont commit when you are working the bait like a champ... and then she dissapeaer back into the depths...some is also luck. and dont forget teh 10" worm on drop shot or weightless just to give those big ones a bigger tempting target. ps this also works good in a small boat like a rental for me. i have a two pole license so ill drop shot with one and just send the weightless out.. improves catch rate. just make sure you keep the pole anchored. so it dont fly off the boat when you get hit.
Mike great Video, I have never used this technique, however will start.
Great lesson. I had never heard the term “dead sticking” but it’s a technique I will start using in the lakes in southeast Texas. 85 to 90 degrees surface temperature should be ideal.
Thanks Ike.. great video
Im giving up on powerfishing. No use tiring myself out. Thank for that awesome enlightment
Good mid-summer technique. Learned of this from Paul Elias 30+ years ago. Used bigger worms though. Good video!
Couldn't get a bite in this fall transition, and honestly got so bored just casting and working a worm every kind of way. That's when deadsticking came like a revelation. I'd just leave it there and I'm getting all the bites! Thanks Ike
Great technique one of my favorites in the summer thanks 👍😊

You’re welcome 😊 Thank you for watching! Never Give Up!
Used it quite a bit before theyd hit after 15-20 secs in the winter. The clearer the water the definitley the better imo
The Maxscent version of the General from powerbait is deadly- best stick bait i have used
Thanks Mike! Ive heard of the technique and thought i knew what it was, but i was wrong. Thk u for the in depth video. Question, instead of a T-rig setup could I use a stick worm on a shakey head, maybe 3/16oz for this technique?
I really like dead sticking when I'm drop-shotting especially when I'm eating a sandwich or drinking something dead sticking with a phone in your hand is the best ☺️
Thanks mike
Awesome video, Brother! I have been using this style for quite awhile and LOVE the results! My prefered baits are the Z-MAN products because of their bouyancy they add a little more action to help entice a good, solid bite! Keep up the good work and stay safe!

Thanks, Mike!!! I am enjoying your transition in Professional Angling! Awesome, brother! How can I (we) get the incredible opportunity to fish with Ike????....Just asking......God Bless...
It is funny. Here in sweden whacky fishing and neko fishing with stick baits is pretty new. When i start out whacky fishing i found that this metod work the best. I tought i did whacky but now i understand the name was deadsticking. All my biggest european perch have been taken on this metod. If it dont work i spray the worm with spike it garlic. But now a friend of mine from USA have send me JJ magic transparant garlic. that liquid stay far longer on the bait. Cant buy JJ in sweden, my god its STINK!! My favorite bait is X zone true center stick june bug 5 inch. The X zone hold up for many fish and i use it with an o ring and nr1 kamasan dropshot hook. This hook is thin and very strong. Mostly the perch hook it self on a slack line. Thanks for a very good video. Now i know what i am doing haha.
I wish I knew some good fishing spots close to me. I know you're in South Jersey. I live in Cherry Hill. I love all your videos.

I'm in Cinnaminson. Tried to get Ike to give up some juicy spots. He didn't bite.
I think this is a great time for bright braided like. You can see the bite if you don't happen to feel it
Never Give Up!!!
My son did this just yesterday. Caught him his PB. 4.6lbs. Great for a 5 year old! haha.
good stuff.
I really want to fish with you Ike. Lol.
Triple time fishing, three rods dead sticking helps slow down ones emotions and baits?
Hi Mike...do you have any devils spears??...I can't find any
I just used this method the other day. It was the only way I could get bites. I caught multiple 5 pounders on a stick bait.

How long did you pause?
@connermillison8141

Like a minute but sometimes a let it sit longer. It really depends on how active the fish are. If I didn’t get a bite after a while I would work it a little and let it sit again.

thats awesome man , shallow or deep ?
What size rod, reel and line?
Works great, and even better if you birdsnest on your caster. By the time you are done with the mess, you got a fish lol

Caught a nice big spot that way, when I finished fixing my rats nest I had a very angry spotted bass on .
いいバスだね❗
Cool.✔
But only effective in an area where fish are holding! The conditions must be just right tho!

The cast that caught the fish begins at 14:37 and then cut away at 14:40 to show the hook setting at 14:42. But the time for deadsticking is 15 seconds? Why shortening the video?

Its like if you go work on barb wire fence you wont go without gloves. Protects from hooks and fish spines, hand rash. Also good uv protection

Nothing against you M"IKE" but I'm tiring of the techniques videos. Please post more vidz on ACTUALLY FINDING fish under various situations.
The only time dead sticking is really bad is when in a helicopter

Hey man if you can't take the heat get out of the devil's cabin.
Come on, dude. Stop lying. Why was the video edited when you caught the BIG one? Answer, because you did NOT dead stick it. You threw on the stick and the fish ate it on the way down - that is clear and evident.

Actually Since you are clairvoyant... I caught that fish on the deadstick it was edited that way because I was speaking with the cameraman in the middle of the bite... Thanks for Watching. Never Give Up
