Glee is based on the creator's own experience in his high school show choir. He liked what Burroughs was doing with show choir after seeing videos of their sets. The videos helped sell the show concept for television. The Glee pilot was filmed at Burroughs and the show's choir room is a copy of the Burroughs choir room.

Glee's pilot episode was filmed at this high school. Pretty sure they are the inspiration for the show. My son is a student @ John Burroughs HS. I attend every performance of Powerhouse. They are amazing!

honestly! i’m in show choir right now and the high school i will be going to doesn’t have one anymore and i seriously don’t know what i’m gonna do with my life

one of burroughs' best sets. this and the circus sets are just so INCREDIBLE.

well thats an overrated title for a video huh

People who disliked this show clearly have never been in show choir before and dont know how much TIME and ENERGY you have to put into rehearsal. You have to be so DEDICATED and COMMITTED to be in show choir and this show is just phenomenal. :)

I'm not surprised John Burroughs was number one, but i definitely think The Pretender from their 2009 show should have this spot. That entire performance just gives me chills. And you can see the devotion and intensity throughout the whole thing

There's no feeling in this "performance" I feel as though I should be watching a low budgeted Broadway show...

For all the people saying the chords sound wrong... it's called dissonance. The chords are supposed to sound wrong. The judges like it better because it's harder to sing.

I dont think they meant the dissonance, I think they meant the blend wasn't so hot(It wasn't compared to the standard "best show choir ever".

I think Burbank In Sync should be considered the best

Prime example of west coast show choir. Having a director conduct during a song and this minimal of dancing would be taboo out in the Midwest but hot damn these guys can sing.

my show choir went to new york in march and competed against this sschool...we got second place they got first only by a few points though....there school has been amazing for several years

I work at the 10 time Grammy Award Winning Las Vegas Academy of performing Arts. This is great STUFF! AWESOME! JUST AS GOOD IF NOT BETTER THAN OUR CHOIRS! LIVE MUSIC is Awesome. Hope the band consists of students and not community adults. Great stuff!!!!

This is a good choir performance, but nothing extraordinary I personally back when I used to perform Burbank Insync and Burroughs were both top choirs followed by brea olinda masquerade and Los Alimitos as well they were all outstanding choirs with amazing vocals and choreo. They also had story lines you could follow unlike this show

99 % of the money for the season is raised by the kids themselves. The school also has a wonderfully talented alumni that volunteers many hours to make the program happen. anthostube has it correct....they do love what they do and that makes a huge diffference.

In the So Cal circuit, all directors conduct the a cappella. Just how its always been.

Do your best ALL of the time. Even when you're learning choreo or the songs and you're confused. When you get frustrated or tired keep on going full out and don't quit. Doing anything less than your best won't help you or your choir. Just remember to have fun and be healthy! Don't stress too much. Break a leg this season! I wish you the best of luck!
