If you're looking for more resources on this Shogun Wing-T, I got all of this stuff from Coach Murphy in Montana shotgunwingtcom.ipage.com/Murphy/ Then we just tweaked it from there. I'd love to ask specific questions, but you should check out what Coach Murphy has as well. He's got a ton more on this stuff than what I've got posted here.

Hi Coach... Great video! I'm interested in modifying and using the Shotgun Wing-T for 12-man Canadian Football... Do you still have a playbook available for a rookie coach to study and scheme with? Much appreciated!

Coach, I don't really have a playbook with everything all typed up. And I'm not sure how I'd deal with Canadian Football rules and the Wing-T without understanding the rules better and giving it a lot of thought. I got all of this stuff from Coach Murphy in Montana. He has a website, it's listed below. Then we just tweaked it from there. I'd love to answer specific questions, but you should check out what Coach Murphy has as well. He's got a ton more on this stuff than what I've got posted here.Give it a look and come back and ask questions if you have them. I will do my best to answer them. shotgunwingtcom.ipage.com/Murphy/

The awesome advantage of being in the pistol w/regard to this offense is: " it's a. not foreign to be in passing formation" thus tipping off the defense. b. gives the QB a better opportunity at pre-snap reads"! Traditional wing offenses have passing; but this offense by formation is going should make passing more efficient. Wing T teams of old would only go to a shotgun or pass the football when they were down. This made them less familiar with particulars of the passing game. If a coach can air it out just enough and complete some passes.......................it will make that opponent and future opponents ....................struggle to stop them! Love this offense in the hands of an OC who actually uses it to pass out of at least 35% of the time( least). If not, just run the traditional Wing-T.

If you look at the base formation ( tight end / wing.. split and slot ) It is a balanced set giving you all sorts of options based solely on how your opponents line up. I ran this a few years back with a dual threat QB and we used to read a particular player giving an added wrinkle to the offense. Out of Buck Sweep our QB would read the EMOL. If a few plays in the EMOL was sitting on the pull we then would read the slot defender for our Bubble pass. Would recommend the regular Wing T if your backfield is less talented as the Shotgun allows for the fakes and such to be less believable.

The traditional Wing T has limitations in the passing game so this would be a great addition to your Playbook without tipping your hand because you can run these plays at any down & distance

I totally agree and is why we wing to PISTOL after 12 years of under center smash mouth. Big difference is that PISTOL has the FB directly behind the QB, so you can run Belly Rt, Belly Lt, down rt, down lt, etc without moving the FB to the other side of the QB. This video is technically SHOTGUN WING T. Other big difference is that in SHOTGUN, your FB runs the buck, in PISTOL your Wing runs the buck....same as when you are under center.

I run the wing-t from under center and would like to move more towards the shotgun. Can I get in contact with you about a playbook? I'm in Utah coaching 8th & 9th graders.
