Thanks Stephen for this very helpful video on OBS! I pasted the logs URL into the OBS log analyzer & this is what it returned: *Wrong GPU.* Any recommendation on how to fix it. This is what the problem with my OBS recordings has been: I have one external monitor with the same resolution as the computer to which it is connected. My OBS recordings were fine. I never noticed any _lags or frozen frames._ But then I bought a second 4K UHD monitor & connected it to the same computer using a _USB-A to HDMI adapter._ Since then, my OBS recordings have had *frozen frames* in which the video turns into still images. Looking forward to your feedback! Thank you again!

@@danieldengL4R I've never encountered this problem before nor have I heard of it. However, it sounds similar to a problem I used to have. I'm sorry if I can't help much. I'm only speaking from experience and don't really know much but I will try my best to help you. The problem I used to have sounds very similar to yours, where I used the wrong GPU without my knowledge. Once I changed my encoder to the right GPU, it was still very laggy and a bunch of frozen frames until I ran OBS as an administrator and set it to High Performance in the Graphics Settings. I basically made sure OBS was running and using my GPU and I made sure OBS was using as much of my GPU as it needed. I hope this helps.

@@justluffy977 I only touched what was covered in the video, which was the video quality and the encoder settings, nothing else. I still have some choppiness to my video as can be seen in a video I just now uploaded. So I still need to fix that, but it’s much better than it once was!

HUGE THANKS DUDE my game was so choppy when obs was in background. fixed all the problems using log analyzer and now the recording and the game is flawless!

0:26 a thing that u can do to make it run as administrator all the time without having to right click and do it yourself, is by going into the properties of obs studio by right clicking and clicking properties. Then you go into compatibility and tick the box that says Run this program as an administrator.

Thank you, that’s great info. To clarify, you right click the shortcut or .exe you use to launch OBS, those are the properties you’re looking for, it’s not a setting in OBS. I’m impulsive and skimmed the instructions of course, took me a couple minutes to realize what I was looking for ;) .

DUDEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, i would get no lag while recording but the video was so bad.. and when i put the framerate to 29.97 it got FIXED... you said if the video lags decrease the frame rate which i saw NO ONE ELSE SAYING... YOURE A TOTAL LIFESAVER YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH THIS MEANS TO ME... THANK YOU SO FRICKING MUCH DUDEEEEEE!!! ty bro im a yt with 24k subs and my fans kept commenting my recording was so bad and laggy, I figured out the problem was me using CBR, when i switched to CRF it worked great! Also I do have a very bad pc, is there any other settings I can use to make my recording smoother than it is?

In the output settings you should find at the very top "Output Mode" set that to advanced.
