This is quite likely the _world_ market. With 2 Nokias selling _250 million each,_ it is highly improbable that _every_ man, woman and child in the U.S. _alone_ bought one.

No this is the whole world. The reason why iPhones are higher is because only Apple makes them, and they only release 3-4 a year. Meanwhile every other company uses Android, which is why Android is the most popular operating system, however iPhones are the most popular phones themselves

@@d.bcooper2271”more popular” is actually a misconception. Android is an open system and Apple is closer. Other phone manufacturers can develop for Android and only Apple develops for iPhone.

My first mobile phone was a Nokia 6210 (released in 2000, not sure when I got it). I was a bit disappointed that it didn't make it into the list.

My phone evolution 2024 - Motorola g84 2021 - redmi note 10 2019 - redmi note 7 2017 - Motorola e3 power 2014 - Microsoft lumia 532 2010 - Samsung SM B3 keyboard 2002 - born with nokia 1100

The good old days when mobile phones weighed under 100 grams. The Nokia 3310 and 1100 were THE most popular and widespread phones, as for as I remember. I always thought that the Moto Razr was popular. I had one in the 2000's, and I loved it. It would just fit in your pocket.

You forgot the Motorola Micro TAC 650e. 1995. Very popular. i still got one...

Nokia was symbol revolution in communication..it reigned more than a decades..Two decades old Nokia phones are always to be remembered forever...Though it vanished from market I have great reverence for them.They connects me emotionally to my past youthful days..

Just goes to show how Nokia lost it's position as the leading mobile manufacturer by rejection modernity as how we saw the first nokia smartphones dominating the iphones still. Same has happened with Toyota in response to Tesla and BYDs of the world. Seems japan has a hard time accepting newer technologies not originating in japan.

Nokia is the only company which can dominate the market with 10 different models, as it did in 2008. I miss those times where you can expect to get a reliable phone across so many different price points and feature sets.

Nokia 1100 my dad had that phone back in 2005, I used to play snake on it and damn it was most durable phone ever, surprising how it was most selling phone. While my uncle had Nokia 1600. Crazy how fast phones evolved.

It's for the whole world . The stats are for sales in a year . Don't forget that , It's not the majority of people who change their phone every year. Then you have those who have no need for a phone at all , ie the very young and the very elderly . Add in some other factors then you look at the population of the world. I think a peak of 250 000 000 sales in a year is for the world.

Enterprise class phones, and pricey, only people with money to spend got one so they never reached high numbers.
