Cant go wrong with either of these excellent cars. RAV4 has some advantages: 1. Spare tire, 2. Panoramic roof option, 3. Ventilated seats, 4. Rear camera is better, and perhaps most important of all 5. Better fuel economy. CRV has 1. More interior space, 2. More cargo space, and (subjective) 3. Better looks

I like the tech in the RAV4 but the CR-V looks like a good place to spend time: comfy leather seats, rich sound quality, spaciousness, not to mention ride and handling.
It's interesting that you guys are comparing the top trim from each model, while the most popular models are usually the mid-trims.
Remote start is important to me ( and I don’t want to pay a subscription!). I have ventilated seats in my old cars. Never used them. Seldom use my sun roof. Cargo space and passenger comfort, efficiency and reliability. I have owned a Rav 4 and 2 CRV. Definitely leaning to CRV.

You brothers just get better and better each week! The blue with black trim on the CRV definitely helps to remove some of its dullard characteristics. It gives me a touch of Volvo in styling(especially in the rear) and proportions. Its odd, this loaded RAV4 is only $4400 less than a Highlander Limited. Sheesh. I think its definitely time for the RAV4 to be refreshed now.
Both are awesome and offers some difference for different people, I love Honda products because the offer more room and still some fun...and race pedigree includes this weekend as F1 racing world champion engine supplier 2 years in a row
19inch rims are not a pro for the crv. Give me some sidewall and better priced tires

Went CRV Touring. Buying is very difficult because MSRP is not where it ends. In this market the dealers are adding mandatory accessories (low jack, door guards, wheel locks, etc and so forth) to raise margin even more. Also availability is horrible in general across the industry. No one seems to have cars on the ground ready to sell. You have to wait and only buy what has been allocated to the dealer which alienates consumers and gives you no ability to negotiate price at all. Honda had the easiest process, no market adjustments to the already HIGH msrp.

I have a 2012 CRV that has no issues. Out Accord is 24 years old with no issues. I'm don't think that is a true statement.
I have a 2020 CR-V EX-L, and I love it. It’s the first car that I’m seriously considering a lease buy-out. I’ve been looking at hybrid vehicles this time (lease ends in July), but the residual value of my CR-V too good to pass up, compared to the new car prices which are ridiculous! When I was in the market for a new car in 2020, I considered the RAV-4, but I just couldn’t get past the cheap interior feel and the over-all cheap looking exterior. The same is true this year.
I really wanted the RAV4, but they were 5-7K above MSRP, so I ended up getting the CRV, which isn't a bad vehicle, but I like all the technology the RAV4 comes with.

A very helpful comparison. I looked at where each vehicle nudges out the other and gave it a personal weighting in terms of importance to me. As a result a simple bottom line sum isn't my personal sum and my sum will no doubt differ from others who went through a similar exercise. Living in Canada, traction in poor driving conditions is important to me but not part of the comparison. Hard to do in a California testing environment. I have found comparisons elsewhere and will leave it up to people to do their own research if this is important to them.

Spare tires usually are only good for up to 50 miles and so is the flat fix machine, so is really a draw there. Beside the cooling seats on the Rav 4, Honda takes it. Plus the Crv's AWD system is actually a AWD with 50-50 split unlike the Rav 4.

Both are amazing cars. Honda has bigger cabin and looks better. But the toyota/lexus hybrid system is unmatched in reliability. We went Rav4 because we take weekend roadtips two times a month, drive about 3k miles a month, and in the end, we just wanted an efficient vehicle that will work with no issues for years to come.
I looked at both. The Honda feels like it has a lot more room and less blind spots. I don’t like Toyota’s subscription stuff either. Spend $40,000, but you have spend more to use features it has built in already. No thank you!
I just bought a 2020 Rav4 XLE. My wife bought a 2021 CRV HYbrid XLE a few months ago. Crazy but I get to try both and still love the Rav 4. My fear with a Hybrid is still teh problems of batteries and cost of changing them, my CONventional Rav 4 gets great mileage when compared to most any Gas powered SUV, I get power and still about 26 city and I have not had it on a long drive as I just bought it two weeks ago. I also did not like the Electric push buttong Transmission and am surprised Honda went back to the old Stick SHifting feel. The ability to pull a stick into gear sold me and was a major reason I did not go with a Honda. I also found that both are still hard to find USed and Longo Toyota (worlds largest car dealership) says they will not take anymore new orders as they already are backed up 2 years of orders. THey told me TOyota did not increase their produciton after COVID and is behind. So, I hope to be able to find a 2023 Rav 4 in about 3 years to buy. In any case, buying a Used Rav 4 or CRV, regardless of trim is expensive and usually minimum of $3000 more than the car cost when new. I can't even imagine the problem with buying a new TOyota and have no idea what buying a new CRV is like. One last thought is that the quality is great and they both are rated to run over 250,000 miles. It is hard to beat that, I was a BMW owner until I saw the Japanese by far beat them in Quality for price and length of time their products stay on the road.
Fog lamps are being discontinued in Hondas lineup as well as Toyotas slowly because of how powerful led headlights are. Fog lights don’t do a whole lot anymore

I have a 2019 accord hybrid and it is pretty awesome. I did have some issues with the electronics during the winter and had to take it in but Honda fixed it with a software update. it did it again and they did something and fixed it. I also have the rav4 limited hybrid 2022 and it is pretty good on gas. better than the accord hybrid. I wanted a crv but couldn't wait so I went with the rav. I am happy with it, drives like a tank and feels like it will last a long time. I wouldn't buy the first year model of the crv, I am pretty sure it will have some bugs to work out. The rav seems pretty sorted out and reliable. Was crazy rushing a pregnant wife to the hospital in the accord in a snow storm and having some weird malfunction where the headlights didn't work or wipers, all abs lights and dash lights on. but the car drove fine, was scary with no wipers or lights but we made it. I think Toyota as far as hybrids go, seem to have better all round reliability and gas mileage. Oddly the rav gets less gas milage in the winter than the accord but only by 2mpg average around 32mpg in the winter and 40 in the summer with the rav. in the accord 34mpg in the winter and 37 in the summer. The Honda feels way more sporty than a camery hybrid tho, it is way more enjoyable to drive. And the regen on the Honda with the paddles is bliss for trail braking into corners, I can roast people in the Honda, it takes turns amazing. IM sure the new crv is probably funner to drive than the rav4. It looks like the new crv has those regen paddles too.

@@Uncommonsensetoo rav4 adventure model? The hybrid needs to have an a-trac like mechanism and it would be perfect. You could look at subaru also. Theres aftermarket rear lockers for those.

If thats a concern you can purchase a spare at a tire center. Much cheaper than dealer.

I can not believe Honda didn't come up with 1. Actual spare tire 2. Panoramic Moon roof! How 'stodgy'!! If it weren't for those two items, I would flat out buy the Honda! But I am now going with a different model all together!
Lack of a spare tire on the highest trim is really stupid, I've had several flats on my 2021 crv, and the inability to change your tire just ruins your whole day dealing with tow trucks and tire repair shops
I like CR-V Audio and remote start. As a bonus it’s a Honda. Excellent Review, Thank you
Wanted the updated 2023 RAV4 XSE with advanced tech package but ended up with a 2023 CR-V Sport touring because it was available. Still waiting on two deposits I have for the Rav4🤦🏽♂️
I've noticed that Toyota aswell as Lexus have auto start by pressing the lock button three times but choose not advertise it guessing that they want people to use their app
Am I the only one that doesnt like how new CRV looks.
Am a fan of Honda but I just don’t understand why they are always behind in technology. No HUD, 360 camera, ventilated seat and rear view camera in this new age. It’s just too sad….

Acura is the reason.
I hope you to compare to their chassis, thanks.
Honda for me
Rav4 all the way and non turbo. Rav4 overall reliability. Crv is not reliable with 1.5 turbo engine oil dilution and with timing belt. Rav4 has timing chain it will last longer than crv
This time I gotta say Honda dethrones rav4 in terms of exterior and interior styling now, nice job Honda.
I tested both. CRV EXL is much better and looks beautiful. Rav 4 is too plasticky, cheap looking and feels lighter while driving. How come Toyota likes plastic so much??
Great comparison video Wait! The RAV4 in your video had LED Front Turn Signals! WTH?! Let me get off the floor !!! Omg. Is this all trim levels or just what you tested? Now if we can get the rear turn signals to become LED !!! I would be helpful to have ground clearance comparisons And turning radius comparisons in all of your videos Thank you
Thank you soooooo much for the info. It helps me decide which one i buy ehheh! I go with rav because of spare tire first of all

Glad we could help!
If you aint loyal to any brand, just toss a coin. You just can't go wrong with literally the kings of the segment.
The CRV'S last generation was far superior to the Rav4, but with the 2023 CRV redesign, Honda missed the mark by a lot. No ventilated seats, lack of a panoramic sunroof, no drop down levers for the rear seats are all big misses. Honda is playing it cheap, which will cause them to not only lose current customers, but also potential new customers.
Having owned 8 Toyotas and 0 Hondas, am thinking Honda this time. Better drive train, handling, ride, looks, and price. But I will miss the panoramic view offered by Toyota.
I like the new Honda Crv!
Really like the side by side comparisons on split screens! I test drove both these in 2024 models and I went for the nicer driving experience of the CRV (Sport L). Also, the RAV4 looks a bit dated now. Maybe the 2025 will have a sharper design. It would be nice to have a spare tire, though, Honda!
Honda interiors are well designed with high quality plastic but if you take a closer look cost cutting is very obvious same for exterior.
cabin noise? power output smooth?
Looking at one of these for my dad. Wished the crv didn’t have black as their only wheel color on the hybrids because it is nice
I'm going with the rav4.

Make sure you dont live in an area that doesn’t salt roads. I was going for the RAV4 until I found out about the cable corrosion issue.
I have a 2022 Accord Sport Hybrid, its a lot quicker than people expect.
