Canon Vixia HF R52 isn't exactly the same as the Vixia HF R800. One of the differences is that the HF R800 has threads to attach various lenses, filters, and a lens hood. One trick is to glue a step-up ring on an older model Vixia and use those threads to attach lenses, etc. HF R600 /R60 and later Vixia (R700, R70, R800, R60) come with the lens threads. Older models don't- R100, R10, R200, R20, R300, R30, R300, R400, R40, R500, R50

Hey just letting you know this is one of the best videos on KZread for different price point film setups, and encouraged me to get in the game. I bought the Canon Vixia HF R52 on Ebay for $110 bucks. I'm having fun with my boys and don't have a lot of money invested. Thanks.

Well Done !! best video I have seen on self filming set ups!! so it seems like filming with a mirrorless and having to manually zoom in and out might be a problem when it comes down to little movement once you spot a target animal. thanks for the helpful info and keep up the excellent work!!! 👍

11:04 1.8 lens on this camera isnt the same as 1.8 Lens on ff dslr, its completely different 12:03 Canon RP in 4k has a big 1,7x crop so if you want good 4k video its better to buy for example canon r10 with a lens for apsc and you would get better quality

The microphone shoe you're mentioning is actually a cold shoe. A hot shoe mount is one that has an electronic connection with the device being mounted on it, which in this case would mean you wouldn't need to plug the mic into the camera's mic port because it would already connect to the camera via the hot shoe. A cold shoe is simply a mount for accessories like microphones, lights, viewfinders, etc., that have no electronic connection with the camera. Typically, a Canon hot shoe would pair with a Canon brand mic, Sony with a Sony mic... it's kind of a way to keep you buying more of that manufacturer's products.
