This was the Seiko I really wanted. Now that I have it, all Seikos are compared to this one. Its amazing.

It's specs and case make it super interesting. Great looking watch I had the blue and red dialled one and the re bought it after missing it but bu then I bought the king seiko in white.

I love the Samurai case design, as well as the dials. I`ve made a few different Samurai mods for people. Great vid man!

Nice one Randy. This was my first mechanical Seiko and a nicely implemented watch. Just one thing, I was swayed by the 'King' version. Yes, in the UK its quite an up lift in cost, but the ceramic bezel insert reduces the risk of scratches, similarly the sapphire crystal. I like the relatively unique design of the case and it fits my small wrist too. I was thinking of swapping the bracelet but 9 months in the bracelet has worn well so far, so its a keeper! I have heard reviewers being critical of the clasp, but compared to my other 'upgraded' bracelets, I find the standard Seiko clasp sturdy and reliable which I think matters more than looks. Eyeing up the Turtle next!

I love the king samurai limited editions. Seiko is producing some great pieces recently like the slim turtle as well. They are such hard watches to fault even with the price inflation recently.

Except for the misalignment and crappy bracelets…I still love them, I’m more partial to the turtle, but still. Seiko need to sort that crap out. Especially the misalignment which brands that cost half get right for the most part

Hi to all Seikolovers and "Mr. cheap watch man"! I bought myselve a used "Mantary" with a rest of warranty and thats my and that was my luck! The movement stops in often before the 42 h of power reserve, so I talk to Seiko. They told me to send them my watch and put in a new movement. Now it runs with 3 seconds plus a day. Very nice and by the way a beautiful dial. Have a look and you will fall in love! Thank you for uploading!

I have the blue "Save the Oceans" edition and it's beautiful in person. My only gripe is the fake center links, and as you mentioned, the lack of bezel markings... Great review!

I have the cream dial king samurai SRPE37, it hsas quickly become my favourite watch, even jsut ordered another samurai as I love that case design so much.

I don't have or ever have had a Samurai. It does look attractive. I have an Orient and a Glycine, too, along with a couple of Citizen divers, so I am not sure if I 'need' one of these. I think I may just opt for an "Arnie" Prospex Tuna Dive, although it is about $150 more, or get a 5 Sports GMT. Thank you, as always, for your time and efforts to review and share this with us all.

I have the save the ocean manta Ray love it its a big watch but i have 7 3/4inch wrists so no problem love it gets more looks then my submariner

Interestingly, your downsides - the dial details & bezel color options and contrast - are addressed by building your own w/aliexpress parts (with a slightly different dial). It'll cost about €100 (no strap or bracelet), and using an NH36 you get the day/date too. This'll be my next project. Great review, I really like the transition music.

Thank you for your well done review of the samurai. I am wondering why I am asking myself why I like my samurai’s so much. The SRPH97 night vision king reference with all the great samurai features, has the crystal and ceramic bezel that somehow perfectly “match” the case design for me. I also have the non king black limited SRPH11, and for some reason really can’t imagine it improving with a crystal and a ceramic bezel, as it is so impressive as is. I agree though, that the missing minute numbers up to 15 seems a mistake, and is my only nick.

My SRPF79 (Save the Oceans special) has SAPPHIRE!!! My favorite.

I got the same model, i was looking for the blue version but out of stock so I grab the black one and it was the last piece as well and was on sale :) but mine got the cyclops but i don't mind.

Yea I love the samurai case look. Even more than the tuna or turtle personally. I want the white and black or the new save the ocean model. There are some JDM limited/special edition that have sapphire crystal I believe. Great review

I just bought the new PADI version king samurai, love it, also my first Samurai.

If you need this to dive vice office dive, I agree with the criticism of the lack of hard contrast on bezel. However, the grey looks AWESOME in person so if your use case is a stylish, cool looking office diver… this looks bad a$$! And yes, I’ve played with them in the metal.

had one for years, possibly the most comfortable big watch i have. case is fantastic. clasp is cheap and the alignment of the bezel is slightly off....but it's a Seiko!

Another vote for the King Samurai. I have the Manta Ray edition and it is beautiful. The blue fume fades to black with the black bezel. In light the dial looks like the moving ocean with 3 manta rays swimming below the surface. It is fabulous to look at. The bracelet is not good. I added a blue strapcode distressed rubber strap w red accent. It makes the watch pop even more. I refuse to buy another watch without a saphire crystal. This has the sapphire. Enjoy both your channels.

I have the STO gen1. It’s one of my favorites.

I absolutely love my King Samurai “Save the Ocean” edition. SRPE33. Made in Japan. Sapphire crystal, black ceramic bezel, subdued manta rays on a blue ocean face. The bezel alignment is true at 12 o’clock too. The bracelet is chonky, but it got comfortable after a few days of wear. Time graphing shows -14 seconds per day. Still breaking it in. 😎😎😎

I have that exact same watch! Love it, very accurate and lume lasts most of night! It doesn’t wear as big as it looks!

I'll die on my hill, but I think the hands need more contrast than the silver provides, so I have this watch with the orange dial and I think it's the best one. Love the readability in the water too (though it's been a couple years and I need to get some maintenance done on mine). I've got the bracelet, and it's fine, but mine lives on a nato strap these days. With the bezel protrusion, I don't find myself scratching the crystal like I might on a field watch. So while the bezel has a small nick in it, the crystal is still perfect. That said: I like the waffle face texture. Early on, there were some prerelease pics with an orange face with waffle texture and I'm sad they didn't go with that design. Also, it's a Seiko, so the chapter ring isn't perfectly aligned. It's such a meme now, I don't know if they've locked that down in QC yet, but mine is a little off but I don't notice it anymore.

I currently own the King Samurai Shu-Iro SRPH61K1 limited edition it was the one watch i looked up to when starting getting in to watches it looks soo amazing.

I have two king Samurai Seikos. Both limited editions , The shu- iro Samurai and the Nightvision Samurai. Both spectacular watches with sapphire glass and ceramic bezel...

Great review. Thanks for clearing up a question I had for quite a while: is the 1-15min part of the bezel grey or brownish? Now I know: It’s actually goldish-brown. Personally I would have preferred grey to match my SSK001 and SSC911, but oh well. Keep up the great content! Cheers

I bought one about a year ago with the black silicone band. I replaced it with a beads of rice style bracelet from Uncle Seiko. I like it.

I had the exact same Seiko Samurai that I purchased back in 2006, but with a 7s26 movement. These watches were easily had brand new for $130 to $160 back those days, and I never really found them that impressive to the point that I was obsessed on keeping it. The prices on these Seikos are now ridiculous. I am trying to recall if the crown was also black, so I have to look at some of my older pictures of me wearing the watch with the ex wife 😂 You need to balance the links up on the bracelet to where you get the clasp to sit more leveled by moving links over from one side, to another side of the bracelet. Either way, great review!

I had the old titanium one, awesome watch. I regret selling it now.

Oh, finally a samurai review 👌🏻! Great watch and an awesome design! I own the king samurai save the ocean dark manta ray special edition- one of my top favorites in my collection. It comes with sapphire crystal, it aligns, it fits so so well, and it has one of the most beautiful and interesting dial.

I have a mako 3 (ivory; which really looks more champagne), and am waiting for my king samurai to come in. I have a king turtle and love the wear of it, keep hearing similar things about the samurai so I'm excited.

I fell inlove with the samurai case. I chose a king samurai black series. The only issue was that it only came on a rubber strap and im a bracelet guy. So i got a pvd bracelet from strapcode and it works well not perfect. I think if any samurai had a female end links it would wear better, look better and will be perfect. Seiko clasps although "cheap" and make lots of noise are iso rated annnd very very comfortable. Thats it, get a king samurai.. 🙂

I own this exact Seiko Samurai and absolutely love it. Worth every penny.

You should check out the Seiko Manta Ray Special Edition (SRPE33K1)! Same bracelet, sapphire chrystal, ceramic bezel, date magnifier and a super amazing dial!

I have one and the bracelet annoys me while wearing the watch. Changed it for a rubber alliexpress strap, and the wearing experience improved a lot.

I hated the bracelet on mine for a long time. I moved a link from clasp opening side to the long end and it became amazingly comfortable. Looks slightly unbalanced, but wear comfort is now amazing.

The Dave the Ocean special edition has a silicone strap which is supposed to be super comfy.

I have three. 3 different color ways. I admit I rarely wear them on the OG bracelet.

I felt it wasy obligation,as a native of Soflo, to get the orange dial. I love wearing this watch. It almost always gets a compliment when I have it on my wrist.

What about these Samurai side flaps on the case..? I have this watch and love it but it seems to me that the case and those flaps are soldered together and polished and brushed afterwards. I really don't think it is made out of one block. What do you think.?

The king samurais are still one of the few Seikos which are fairly priced for what you get, normal ones , not so much. Bracelets on these are horrid though, so your best bet is a nice aftermarket one or just the OEM rubber band, considering how heavy the piece is its the best choice anyway. Absolutely worth it with the sapph crystal and ceramic insert. I snagged an asia limited release with orange rosegold deep blue color scheme for 500 euros. Amazing value.

Seiko Samurais are still among the best price/value of all SEIKO sports/divers. and for $50 more you can get the KING SAMURAI.. with ceramic bezel and sapphire crystal. I own a few. Peace.

I have the Manta Ray version it's a bit big but a nice watch .

And the screw down crown is also awesome on this watch ;)

I had the white waffle King Samurai, replaced the strap into Starpcode Hexad. Sold it a year later. It's a love hate relationship between me and the watch. I love the design but the OC issues pushed me sell it. The bezel, the lume at the bezel and the chapter ring is mis aligned. But over all I'd say it's a nice watch.

This was the first Seiko I ever bought. Love the watch, absolutely hate the bracelet! Fortunately Marc sells a fantastic replacement bracelet so I bought it and now the watch is perfect.

I had the blue and red. The pip on the bezel would not line up at 12 oclock. Drove me bananas. Had to sell it. I do however want a new one in my collection.

I have 3 Samurai versions. I love them, although I put different Strapcode bracelets on them. The OEM bracelet sucks.

Love the samurai! So much I've got four! But, you're reviewing the regular Samurai, not the king Samurai which has a sapphire crystal and ceramic bezel. That being the case I'm not sure why anyone would buy the regular Samurai? Love them, like I said, but hardly Seikos best dive watch. Hard to beat in this price range, but so is the King Turtle.

Seiko bracelets are well finished and overall not that bad until you get to the clasp which is one of the worst in the entire market. If you want to upgrade your samurai, check out the strapcode bracelets and then add an oem marine master clasp. Perfect combo imo

Love the Samurai, wish they would remake them in Titanium, like the first edition.

I like seiko, got a seiko 5 fleiger, nice watch, but it runs very fast and the hardlex scratched far too fast for my liking, it was a nice entry into automatic mechanical watches. I would never pay that (anything over $150) much for a watch with such low QC. You can easily get higher quality and QC'd watches with seiko movements (that are actually QC'd before they send them out) for much cheaper (I love my ali express watches). Oh and with sapphire crystals and a signed crown.

It’s a Badass watch. It’s either the Samurai or the Seiko 5 GMT that I’ll will be purchasing as my next watch. 😂

I bought a Samari Bracelet from long Island.

The samurai is a cool watch. Great funky tool watch. I have a number of them from a first gen titanium, to the newest save the ocean. Great fun o the wrist.

I have the SRPE37, I like the watch but in my opinion the lume is dissapointing.

I love this watch, the best looking seiko diver, but that gradation color on the bezel is kinda turn me off 😢

It's a complete watch. No upgrades such as a ceramic bezel, etc...improves on it.

The "giantic "seconds hand is way too short as it doesn't reach second markers on the chapter ring. It is for me personally fail in the same way like your non critical and completely biased "review". Seiko Samurai is a nice watch, but it's not that flawless as you put it.
