Consumers preferred to purchase seedless grapes. Sure the stuff you’ve heard about Monsanto is true, but that doesn’t mean that everything is a conspiracy

You have to make them seedless somehow tho and it definitely involves a process not good for us

@gk3330 artificial selection, aka breeding. Natural selection is when organisms choose their partners freely. Artificial selection is human guided evolution. It's how we have so many types of dogs, cows, pigs, etc. We took the best ones and had them breed with each other until we got desirable traits out of them. You can do the same thing with plants even easier. Seedless watermelons, grapes, and bananas are created by breeding them so that their seeds are too small to be noticeable (but they are still there). But that means that the plant can no longer reproduce naturally. So we have two options: grafting (take a cutting from the plant that can't reproduce naturally and attach it to a plant that can; you see this in a lot of fruit trees) or cross-breeding (you mix two breeds together for a consistent result every time; think of mixing a donkey and a horse together to make a mule; it will always be a mule but that mule can't reproduce) It's nothing crazy or nefarious or even new. We have been doing this since the very beginning of agriculture, so literally thousands of years. We like something, so we make more of it and we try to make it better. That's it

Seedless grapes are natural occurance not man made. Also most "seedless" variaties have small seeds that don't bother us when we eat them like the variaties with big hard seeds do.
