    I get asked this daily now so I just had to make video on it... when it comes to choosing your production method, it just depends on your wants and needs. Can you afford to print in bulk to get the low cost PER shirt? Or is it easier for you to pay a little more PER shirt, but not have to invest a lot at one time? Yes, there are ways to start in this business at a very low cost or using a print on demand service, but if you really want to take things serious, you need to invest your funds for some research and development to begin with. Side note, appreciate the support from all of you as always! Which ways are you all producing? Screen printing? Transfers? All of the above?

    Im still starting out. So, clientele isn't that big. I wanted to make merch for myself. I use to order from local shops. Didn't like the quality, for the price I was paying. Was barely making any money from it. I've been doing vinyl, bought a second hand heat press. For multi colour designs, I've been using dtf transfers. They've been working out great.

    I think it'd be worth talking about printable heat transfer vinyl as another full-color option. This technology overcomes the limitations of regular cut vinyl and can be more versatile for not just doing t-shirts but signs as well.

I’m also really into sublimation now I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it so I went the cheap route and converted an epson printer with cosmos ink and I love it as soon as I find an affordable building space I’m going to get the bigger sublimation equipment and try DTG as well.

    Thank you so much for your videos!! Just for your viewers to understand though pricing on screen printing is going to be different based on where you're located. Some printing companies offer to include the tshirt as well. I'm pricing screen printers now in Chattanooga, TN and NOONE is doing it for $1 a color??? It also depends on the quantity. They'll do less per shirt with larger quantities. My lowest quote so far (when I provide the shirt) is $4.75/shirt for 2 colors at a quantity of 72. This printer will waive the $15/color screen fee at this quantity as well. Do your own local research! :-)

Btw i have a question, ive been using a vevor ki-720 cutter with easy cut studio to cut out a design but the problem is that the cutter is creating the design but all of a sudden makes 2 lines across the design hence messing it up. Would that be a mask over the image thats causing that or Would that be something to modify in the software itself or the machine? I would appreciate your feedback!

  • @HustleNinjas

    @HustleNinjas

    I made well over my money back on a white toner printer, but the quality is not the greatest. Cool for a generic t-shirt print; mother's day shirt, birthday shirt, etc., but not good enough quality for a brand. Plastisol transfers are good, they crack a bit, but if you buy the stretch ones, they last a bit longer.

    Do do you recommend not to have HTV for a apparel business because of not great quality and looks cheap?

    Htv is great. I would recommend Htv to start with. I’ve realized, just because you think think it looks cheap doesn’t mean everyone else thinks it looks cheap. The quality is great and it lasts a long time on a shirt when pressed properly.
