This “spending” thing drives me mad. People look at net transfer spend or, worse still, don’t even take outgoings into account. But wage bill is hugely relevant also. “Spend” should account for annual cost of the playing and coaching staff on any given season. Ferguson was a great manager, but to suggest he was doing it all on a mid table budget in the 90s is farcical

Exactly the fact that Pep is even in that top 5 list is a shambles. You can’t be included in these greatest lists when you’ve been at a club built on dodgy financial doping. A lot of the Man City players signed over the last 15 years would not have been there if they’d played by the rules. The list should be these three only. 1. Fergie. 2. Klopp. 3. Wenger.

Stop it with this nonsense, they had the highest wage bill of the 90s, acting like net spend is an indicator of the manager's quality is farcical. If you bring in a billion pounds and spend 999 million, then beat the tar out of a team that brought in 100 million and spent 105 million, are we supposed to consider you some sort of tactical mastermind for winning on 6 million less net spend??? @@Terminator6364 did you hear what he said ? Maybe listen carefully, no one is doubting his ability as a manager but the success at City is build on a foundation which was sort of shortcut, maybe if he had tighter budgets he would have taken more time… these are all what ifs but it sure does make a decent point that 115 charges do play a significant role if we’re talking Pep for PL alone… but never in doubt Pep is amongst the best managers in football history.
@tomben6180
22 күн бұрын
@@limi.First of all none of the charges are proven and the leaks this week suggest City will be cleared within the calendar year 2024 but we’ll have to wait and see. I agree with Carragher, nearly all of the charges, the most serious ones anyway, are pre-Pep. What it’s done, if City are guilty and it’s a big if right now, is drag them up to compete with the top 4 and build a foundation to go and get Pep. If Pep went to Chelsea, Utd or even Arsenal… he’d have had at least a similar budget to what he’s had. Since he’s been there those three clubs have spent more. It’s not his fault if the side he chose to go to had accounting breaches before he arrived.

The league was a lot weaker when Fergie was winning. He won with weak totals like 78!!
I'm stunned that they're making such a big deal about Henderson not being in. Feels like Southgate can't win

The only argument I can imagine is that England are a bit light in the 6 position. There's so much attacking talent (which he kinda had to take) that it has come to the expense of holding defensive midfielders. There is the Warton (mind the spelling) but I think JWP should also come as back up

I've thoroughly enjoyed watching throughout the season. Some great banter and serious footy chat. Great guests. Have watched every Friday morning before work. Look forward to next season 👏
Amazing watching this after the FA Cup final and the comments of Roy and Jamie about the only way Utd could win. Spot on (even thought they didn’t believe it 🤣)
We'd have had an extra half hour of a podcast if Ornstein had got through to break the news that Rashford was left out.

Fergie didn't walk into a club with the money and squad that Pep did. He walked into a mess and had to rebuild the club from top to bottom more or less on his own. It can't be compared!

@@shivaanmcfc7512 And that was from his hard work of creating the biggest club in England, getting paid the most from sponsorships. Which wasn't the case before he came, United were not the biggest club at all, Leeds and Liverpool were bigger clubs, even Forest. City cheated for 10 years, when Pep came they had already won 2 league titles under Mancini and Pellegrini, with premier league legends like Aguero, David Silva, Yaya Toure etc. United hadn't won the league since 1967 before Fergie Came.

Need to get Jose on here. Klopp is basically resting now. Need to get him on here. Bring on Arsene FFS what a legend. This show can go on forever. Hopefully there's a plan of succession. It just is so wholesome.
52:50 somone clip that up from Carra!
Love Cara trying to tell Gary how to win a league! If they are talking what you have to do win one, Cara just needs to smile and nod.
My favourite parts are just before and just after the actual show. I love watching the guys interact outside of the football conversation.
We all need someone like Wrighty in our lives. Just exudes positivity.
I’m glad Keane mentioned about Wenger not having money to spend! The consistency that Arsenal showed under Wenger was unbelievable. If he had Pep, Mourinho and Klopp budget he would’ve achieved greater success!
This is absolute gold. “Wenger last?” Keane (fed up with it all already: “Last? He’s fifth.” 😂😂
It was Gallagher they couldn't think of on the phone, a better player currently then Henderson.
What a show this is! Before I’ve even watched it, makes my day when I see a new episode out. Also perfect 4 here 🙌
