I have always found it difficult to line up my border punches to get a nice even continuous pattern and now I know it's because I haven't been holding the one end up to keep it even. I will be watching out for that next time I use one. Great tips. Thanks so much.

I agree, punches can be hard to math up but I thought you had a much earlier video (years ago) that taught me to line the punch up from the backside...I still use that method and I have good luck!

Thanks for the tips, Maymay! I have that fussy border punch and use it a lot on cards, but you name it , I've goofed up on it. At first, I even skipped a hole and had to try to go back and fix it. But after several uses, It is probably the one that I use most often. So delicate looking!

Great tips, Maymay! When you were showing the scalloped edge punch and put the bright green paper behind the brown paper to show what the punched design looks like, it gave me a good idea for making it a less problematic punch: trick the punch into thinking the paper is still all one original, continuous matching length. After the first punch has been made, if you stick a standard sticky note to the backside of the paper like a backer piece across where you punched, with the opposite (not-sticky) edge lined up flush with the bottom edge of the paper still to be punched, your punched section will no longer be shorter than the unpunched paper and should line up along the "ledge" of the punch just fine. Add more sticky notes next to each other as needed to complete your border. It's kind of like an old typist's trick to fake in length that really isn't there to be able to type all the way to the bottom of a sheet of paper. I hope I explained the idea well.

Very helpful video. But my problem with those fine punches is that they often jam on me. Perhaps it’s the brand- I think it’s Fiskers. But little pieces get stuck inside and ruin the piece for me. Any advice? Thanks.
