BEST Portable Washing Machine and Dryer for Apartment & Small Living Spaces (Magic Chef) - Part 1

Hello Everyone!
Thank you for watching our Portable Washing Machine How To video. We tried to put in as much information as we possibly could think of at the time of filming this video, and we hope you find it informative. This video contains information on how to set up a portable washer and dryer, and how we customized each unit to remain stationary and out of the way of the sinks. If you guys have any questions or concerns we will address them either on here through comments the best we can, or by posting another video. One correction I did want to correct is that it does a full 3 cycles with the large load, not 2. This is a 2 part series... So stay tuned!!

I used mine today and the only thing I would add to this is to make sure to hook the hose to the “cold” water port on the washer and set the temp to “cold” when you wash, if you are using a sink that only has one faucet for both hot and cold. It took me forever to figure out why it wasn’t working for the rinse cycle 😂

How did you guys install the drain hoses, because the one that comes with the washer is so narrow that the extension hose I bought didn’t fit, it’s to big... Did you cut off the hose included with the washer and then added the drain hose you put on the description or how you guys did it?? Hi! Thanks so much for this SUPER helpful series! We've used our portable Magic Chef washer a few times, and it just started making a very loud noise and shaking like crazy during the last few minutes of the cycle (during spin). Why is this happening and how can we fix it? One note: we move the machine back and forth from it's holding place and the bathroom (can't roll it because we have carpeting). If the tub inside is not aligned because of the moving back and forth, how can we fix? THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

I'm so glad the video series has been helpful! So sorry your drum is not aligned from the moving, that's frustrating. For the future, you may want to consider the wheels, it'll be a lil hard to move (like vacuuming a rug) but may be helpful to try. We unfortunately do not know how to fix washers, so you may want to research how to align the tub. Probably fairly easy, I hope.

wow this was VERY helpful! Thank you! Thanks for the tip about the nylon over the tube! I will be doing everything you guys did in this video. With Covid happening I do not want to go to the laundromat so I ordered a portable washer and dryer for my apartment. My sink and cabinets are set up just like yours. Our kitchen looks identical except there is a window at the opposite end from where the dryer was. So the dryer doesn't make your apartment hot or humid? Thats what I was worried about and thinking about getting a 20 foot vent tube to run under my cabinet to go out the window. I dont know how this would look and if it would be ideal but I didnt want it to get hot, humid or dusty in my house. I am getting the same dryer you have. I live in California so I didn't know what to do. So you don't vent the dryer outside or into an indoor vent at all?

Thanks for your most informative video. To drain water out of the machine I find the drain to be way way too short. I bought and connected another drain using clamps and the connection looks pretty good. However, the drain has to be 36 inches high for it to work, as per instructions? So in your case, where the drain is attached to the machine, do you lie it flat on the ground and then did you re-route it higher at 36" at least, under the cupboards? It seems to work in your case. My drain did not work today, the way I had it. To be more clear, Is your drain lying on the ground at the point where it attaches to the machine, but when it gets to the sink, it is about 36 inches high, am I correct? Please confirm this. Thank you.

@@RachaelXO Thanks so much Rachael. Today, I looked at your video again and connected the same way, lying it on the floor and then raising it to the sink. It worked amazingly for a while. As I was celebrating, the connection which I had done with 2 clamps came off, and my kitchen flooded, whew! What a mess!. Thank God I have solid tiles, and also it was a small load, so it wasn't very bad, could have been worse. Now I am working on trying to do a better connection like you guys did. I am so afraid to do the connections again. I guess I could get a plumber to connect a longer drain right at where the manufacturer has connected it originally under the machine. I am afraid to mess up the manufacturer's original connection, even if a plumber does it. I would have to get a handyman and that is scary, plumber would be way too expensive. I will check out the material which you used to connect. Thanks again, I love your video.
