Honestly this hobby has came a long way with more innovation that each company comes out with. Gasket boards are sounding better, top mounts are becoming more accessible, and there are more variety with keeb case and foam material to mess with. My personal fav with new innovation is the Akko spr68 the new spring mount is so interesting.

I'm with you on flex cuts. I've been rocking the Tiger80 alu as my main board and compared to the FBTKL I just got it's much quieter unless I use SP star blue pinks, MX blacks or another loud switch, and even then the sound's not at the same level. Love the freebird tho

Yeah milky tops get eaten by the tiger 80 lite config. That’s why people want to swap to alu or fr4 plates.. like myself lol

I also suggest the Mode Sonnet, but if you want a higher pitched option there's the Monokei Tomo which has extras floating around rn.

Sonnet, grab Thera75v2 if there are still units, Acr top 75 was not bad at all, keychron v1 is cheapest but works

There is only one layout with wk, wkl, and hhkb correct?

PBTfans Vior looks like a perfect match to the Arcane colorway

My Arc60 came and the feet are way too short. I can hear my desk lol. I was thinking maybe it didn't get picked up with your recording setup, but does yours sound a bit thud-y? I'm getting some feet for other boards to experiment a bit with.

You mention the sound profile is deeper - if I wanted full clack with MX Blacks or Zakus, you think it's better to hold off and wait for a clackier board / unikorn / frog mini? 2) Do you know if there will be additional restocks?

I don’t think the frog mini is any clackier. Korn or Bakeneko might be what you really want. The sp star plateless build here is not the most clacky. The alu plate config might be ok? But still wont be as clacky as a gummy o ring board.

Plateless + flex cuts is my favorite feel. Too often people chase the sound rather than feel. I dunno about you but I feel my typing experience a lot more than hear it.

I also liked plateless flex cut.. for like a week or two. Got tired of the feel as well. I have a half plate on flex cut pcb and it became meh after a while

wish they had options for hotswap, solder, or both so that it was cheaper

Same opinion, Arc60 if you like plateless, frog if you like top mount type sound/feel. Frog is heavier if that matters

All the issues were resolved by the time I rebuilt it. Couldn’t replicate it again after - it was just the json loading

For the sound test at 3:33 it should be wob not dmg lmao

It shouldn’t return sluggish. It’ll give more on the press tho.. which makes the whole actuation process feel like it’s taking longer

I’ve tried topre but not NICE topre yet. I’m spoiled by lubed stabs and switches so yeah. If the topre build isn’t the same level as a modded mx board then I get turned off fast

@@AndyVNguyen I know what you mean. I'm used to nicely tuned MX boards, but I got an HHKB the other day and there's just something about it. I've been using it stock, and whilst it sounds a little odd, after about an hour or two of use, it's just really addicting. MX just feels kinda boring now 😂 Gonna try the unrealkeyboards topre mod guide soon

Is 60% still a popular layout in 2023? Personally id rather use literally ANYTHING else. My first "custom" board was a 60% and usability was so bad that like 3 weeks later I ordered a gk64 layout with the misaligned 4th row just to get arrow and delete keys 😂

It is if you have qmk/via compatible keyboards. Mapping makes it much more viable. I have layered arrows under ijkl or I toggle a separate layer to have dedicated arrows. Right alt becomes left, winkey becomes down, right ctrl becomes right, small right shift becomes up.

You're not the only creator that doesn't like flex cuts, I'm definite part of the anti-flexcut gang. Having to tape to get sound out of a board kinda sucks. I wish more 60% boards offered 64 key (arrows in lower right corner) layout.

If you have standard layout, you can map dedicated arrows down there on a separate layer. That’s what I do. I temporarily lose my rshift as it becomes up arrow in this layer

GMK Amethyst would also work
