Everyone of these "best places for military retire" assume that I am going to be working after the Army. No, I want to retire and I don't want to have to wait to 62 or 65 to get any incentives(Georgia I am talking about you)! I am looking for a low cost of living, no income taxes, low or no property taxes, decent recreational opportunities, 20 minutes or less to a military hospital or VA, within an hour drive of a International Airport, and if possible close to an AMC or PAX terminal. So far my short list is #1 Tennessee #2 Florida #3 Texas #4 New Hampshire #5 Washington state.

Those are probably the very reasons that NC First Lady, Kristin Bernhardt Cooper decided to move to North Carolina after graduating from OU, and setting there permanently.
