Firstly, Do not use a treble hook if you want to release the fish. Secondly, use a net and do not lift the fish out of water. Thirdly, wet your hands before you handle the fish, it will ensure that the slime on the fish is intact

Actually angling as a tourism based sport will ensure the locals will not wipe out local fish populations . Look at the amount of mahseer fishing guides on the Himalayas these days. The income generation makes the locals protectors of the fish so that anglers will enjoy the spot. Otherwise locals will decimate the fish population with dynamite or chemicals. Do some research before you comment

Not compulsary in mandi or manali but, f u have licence then u can catch them ligaly
