Running late for your departure from the port can happen. Many MANY things can and DO happen. These ladies were in touch with Port authorities, and Port authorities were updating the Captian. If you find that you will not be able to be on board by the time the ship is set to depart, make sure you have your ships phone number, so that you can at least see what you can do. Pay for the travel insurance and try to book excursions through the cruiseline that you are sailing.
Pier runners are entertaining. Something to do. I don't side with the ones who are not nice about it. Be the one to cheer them on and make it fun for ALL. We never know, and the world needs more positivity!
I honestly do not get off the ship unless I know I can be back on ship hours before departure because I have seen people left. I wish that on no one. Things happen!
I would also say please keep documents and sail and sign cards safely on your person. Don't risk leaving them wherever you go. Sail and sign cards are found all the time, and you can not get back on the ship. Don't risk back tracking for anything.
In my observation, the cruise line and staff do everything in their power to take care of YOU and try to assure your cruise is perfect, but things they can not help every situation.
Make sure that you know the Ports TIME, The SHIPS TIME. Your phones do not always give the right time zone or ship time. Super important!

@@QueenKayKay47 I thought the same thing! If they couldn’t be thoughtful enough to slam the doors of the car shut behind them, I wondered about that poor taxi drivers tip or “lack thereof”, myself!

The Captain was making announcements about communicating with port authorities. He just wanted us to mess with them about it. All in fun! I think the taxi driver was the star. I was looking for him the last time I went. No luck.

Indeed he will. I posted another video where two rickshaw drivers brought some late comers... one was counting his money while leaving! I thought that was so funny!

Why run when you can ride
alk about inconsiderate. Not only late but they couldn't be bothered to shut the doors of the taxi. Talk about inconsiderate.
I have probably the best pier running story ever. A couple years ago, while on a Caribbean cruise, we had stopped in St Thomas. I fell asleep on the beach and missed my taxi back to the pier . As I ran back to the dock, I could see my ship in the distance already halfway to St.Martin.. Instead of giving up, I sped up, and with all my might leapt from the pier. I was able to estimate just right and landed in the pool of my cruise ship. It was all caught on video, which I'll upload shortly.

I hadn't noticed that but if it is the case it is probably because the vendors are so aggressive. They will not take "NO" for an answer. My opinion. IDK

Good point. I don't usually get off at the ports. I have a fear of not making it back to the ship. Next cruise I will watch and see if there is a trend, would be interesting to see if that is the case. Have you cruised before?
