It's because of the way rotary engines work, the exhaust flow isn't as smooth as a regular engine.

Still to this day the fastest car I've ever seen take off was a Mazda RX-7 that thing was a rocket twin turbo I don't know what else was done to the car I could just see the two turbos one second it was there and then it was just gone major hookup major horsepower it is what it is... I personally own a 2012 e92 lots of mods straight piped sounds like a dream and fast but that Dudes Mazda was no joke I seriously never seen nothing like it and I've been around racing my whole fucking life I don't know what he did to that car it was not normal how fast it took off he obviously had to put a all-wheel drive and that thing I'm telling you it was mind- blowing
