I was following Phil in a pro-am 5 years ago. Lousy weather, no media and about 20 people following along. A woman in the small gallery was wearing a cancer survivor shirt. After a few holes, Phil stepped over the ropes and gave her a big hug right in front of me. I sure became a big Phil fan that day.

He had just played a poor last round at Loch Lomond Scotland, but it didn't stop him coming all the way over to where the kids and some adults were gathered. He spent a good while signing autographs, chatting and handing out balls, club covers etc. He even made a point of ensuring that he hadn't missed anyone, before he left for the clubhouse. An amazing golfer and a true gentleman.

Couple years ago when he choose his daughter’s graduation over finishing van important golf tournament, it was impressive. Made the right choice. Was never a fan prior to that move.

Real Detective51 prior to the 2013 Us Open his daughter was graduating Junior high. So he flew out to California to attended the graduation and then flew back to Pennsylvania to play at Merion. It was that open that made me a Phil fan

I worked the last US Open at Oakmont, while Phil was warming up he reached for a water in a cooler and I yelled "how about me?" and he tossed me a cold bottle of water. Truly one of the best golfers who's never forgotten the little guys.

This is why I love Phil. Obviously he wants to win, but he doesn't take himself too seriously. He's such a down to earth person that the average person can relate to. He's just a regular guy, but just happens to play golf about as well as anyone who's ever played. Just imagine how many young kid's will have a story to tell about Phil later in life.

He signed my cast when I had a broken hand in 6th grade. Great guy

Phil is a class act. A guy who can play world class golf, and be a normal fun guy with strangers. Love it!

I love Phil, He signed a hat for my son many years ago! We still have it!!

Phil is the man. My favorite golfer. He has a unique skill in how he turns a bad shot into something great. He is a gent.

i work in the medical field and on some downtime i came across this video and god how i wished i was out there playing. I couldn't help but too smile watching this.

He is an absolute legend. Such a fantastic soul

This guy is so nice.. know someone who took care of the locker room at Copperhead when he played when it was the Chrysler Championship ..I don't know if he likes the track because I don't think he's been back much...But, .he left an enormous tip for the locker room attendants over a grand and could not have been nicer...signing autographs and taking pictures and on and on...Phil is the real deal...so nice and such a great credit to the PGA Tour...

i remember going to firestone in like 2009 as a 9 year old saying “go get ‘em Phil” he turned and looked at me and tipped his cap. class act..

Fav one is when he talks to the fan about how If his head was softer it would’ve been on the fairway

Took my now ex wife to the Memorial in ‘99. We sat and watched Phil and Corey Pavin hit balls on the range for what seemed like an eternity. It was late in the afternoon, so not too many people around. They walked off the range and Phil just started up a conversation like it was no big deal. He earned my respect big time back then and I think he’s one of the greats like Arnold Palmer. Phil’s Army.

Saw a story once that when Phil pops a spectator, he'll put a bit of cash in the glove.

I followed him from hole to hole in the final round of the 2007 PGA championship in Tulsa and in a span of about 6 holes he probably gave 6-10 kids different items of his ranging from balls, tees gloves etc. It was pretty awesome.

someone in the clip referred to him as kind of a modern day Arnold Palmer, (I'd call it a lifetime at that point and be happy) but I digress, watching him win the PGA the other day after turning 50, the crowd following him up the 18th fairway, it took me back to Arnie's Army" (yes im old enough to remember).

Never takes himself too seriously. Gets to play golf for tons of money and loves every minute of it. Loved seeing him paired with Brady. All he wanted to do was pump up his partner.

I remember when I first saw this guy I was like 6 and I didn’t like him cause his name was Phil 😂. I’m 19 and he’s my favorite golfer lol

I'm adding one to the list: When I was a kid I went to the Doral Ryder Open to see an armature friend play his first tour event. I met Phil and even got a few minutes to chat with him. At the end of the conversation I asked if he would sign a ball I had in my pocket. He politely declined saying he didn't sign golf balls, then apologized that there was nothing for me to have signed before walking away. Two weeks later a signed glove arrived in the mail!! He had put it in my friends locker with a note for me.

A God amongst men!!! Gotta love Phil!!

Lefty has always been my favorite. If he could actually hit fairways consistently I think he would have as many wins as Tiger!

Sadly most of the new crop of tour card pros had their personalities removed a la Tiger....
