Actually where I live we did have some sort of semblance of cheer leaders but most people are a bit backwards when it comes to this sort of thing. It would fly over their heads

i dont even have a baseball field in my city... and people in my country dont even know the rules of baseball (im from Argentina, we soccer people here sadly)

They’re doing something right in Philly, I tell you what. The Philly Phanatic and Gritty are a couple of the best mascots. All the NBA mascots are fun, too. These are great fun to watch!! Thanks for sharing!

The best mascot competition would be the Philly Phanatic and Benny the bull

The level of puppetry work on him with the whisps above his eyes to show extra emotion is masterful

It’s always fun when the opposing team gets in on it. The taped keys had me laughing!

I’m always missing my hometown... and seeing the Phanatic always cheers me up.

I love the fact that the game took a backseat to the booth cleaning up the popcorn.

Even though Fredbird is my home town team mascot, I absolutely LOVE the Philly Phanatic.

Phanatic is the best mascot in all of sports. Gritty is a close second.

I never was the biggest Phillies fan but after getting to go see the fanatic I have become one for sure you can't help but love him got to be one of the best mascots of all time

One in a million. The BEST mascot in all of sports, bar none. Jose Fernandez was such a fun guy.

0:19 Goes to show that the human body is nothing to be ashamed of (unless you have some insecurities)...and Rob Dunphy (the big guy in the 22 jersey) isn't afraid to take his shirt off at a stadium while kicking it with the Philly Phanatic. 😂

Love the Phanatic. Theres just way too much of this thing, so this is just "clips of the Phanatic" if you want the best of, youre gonna have to go through footage , SOOOO MUCH FOOTAGE back almost 50 years, like when Lasorda and him go at it back in the 80s and 90s, umpires, players, just so much. Its funny when youre in the seats and he pops up near ya yourre like ohhh noooo please NOT ME, because hes gonna do something to someone near you!

Came here after rewatching that hilarious interaction between the Phanatic and Charlie's Green Man in Sunny in Philadelphia... when he blew that snake horn out at Charlie after being asked, "are you taking me seriously?!" always gets me rolling. Btw, are Catholic Nuns still a thing in the US... or are those females in the audience just in costumes? Do they still exist? If so, what do Nuns do? A while back, I got curious as to who the heck would ever decide to be a Catholic priest (yas'know... seeing as how their reputation isn't so sterling anymore) about 5 or so yrs ago and looked up what you had to do in order to follow that career path... I believe it said that, at the time, only 3 people in all of the US were actually on their way to becoming priests. Also, the conditions you had to meet to be a priest were insane (from what I remember)... After studying a bunch of years to get a degree, you have to take a lifelong, "vow of poverty," and go do missionary work in the most horrible places in the world while living in squalor for a number of years for starters. just interesting.

Yeah, well we dont know what the hanatic is, at least SD has some closure, we'll never know what ours is. All we know is hes from the Galaagos Islands and theres a family of these creatures. Theres stories of sightings of Phanatics but Im not so sure theres many left.
