It’s not signed by him, it’s in horrible shape, I wouldn’t know if it’s his because there’s virtually no way to verify it’s legitimate ownership. At least you had pictures of cobain's fender... at most, I’d pay $30 for this thing. I'd think that someone like steve albini, butch vig or jack endino would probably know a little more about his gear.... though I'd doubt they could verify if THIS was the actual one. if not them, perhaps one of his guitar techs? it's hard to say... they made thousands of these things in the 90's... maybe even TENS of thousands...

The Grunge was a fuzz high gain unit based on the FX70 Metal branded by DOD in summer 1993 to capitalise on the grunge scene. Cobain was reportedly to have tossed this into the crowd at MTV Live ‘N’ Loud in December 1993. Is doubtful he used it live or in the studio as he mainly used Boss DS-1 and Boss DS-2 Distortion units. He had a dark and sarcastic sense of humour so this doesn’t surprise me at all. Calling a pedal after a genre is a pretty corny thing but marketing loves that kind of stuff.

Yup. The only reason Cobain would own a DOD Grunge pedal would be as a joke. King Buzzo of Melvins once said sarcastically of the thing "Great. A pedal to make me sound like me." The company tried to make something called a 'Buzz Box' too, which was based on that Grunge pedal and some octave divider thing Buzz used on Eggnog. In Buzz's actual words from Guitar World (1994) "I have to admire DOD for putting out a thing that insane. Yes, the Buzz Box is totally worthless. It sounds like a vacuum cleaner."

I'd say this fake poser saying he's a nirvana fan and can only regurgitate their most commerically viable hit song. Also does it seem odd that at MOST this guy is like, 35 years old yet was somehow at a nirvana gig with his wife in 1993. So he was married at 13-15 yrs old? gimme a fucking break. Also this is true, the grunge pedal was a pathetic attempt at cashing in on Nirvanas fame, no way kurt used a pedal designed to copy his sound lol Kurt used the nearly same pedal as mine, a boss ds-2 distortion. or ds-1. Orange stompbox, pedal is visible in the in utero album pictures of them playing live

Kind of skeptical about this the moment I saw it on TV. Kurt always used a Boss Distortion on stage along with an Electro Harmonix Small Clone Chorus, and that's it. 2 distinct pedals in his arsenal.
