I’m not sure how many playoffs need to go by before ppl realize it’s a team sport. You need depth everywhere on the roster to go far. The oilers blue line is suspect and the last line of defence was a 40 year old.

No matter what Toronto fans think, or what the media says, you can't deny that McDavid and Drai are at the top of the game right now, putting up stupid numbers in the last 3 years, whether they're together or apart. I'm a HUGE Matthews fan so you haters can give it a rest, just enjoy that these two young players are amazing to watch right now, and it's a treat that they're on the same team. Their playoff performance this year was historical (with Drai badly injured too).

Despite losing badly in the WCF (to the cup champs mind you) Edmonton just had the greatest playoff run since 06’. This team is only gonna get better in the next few years. Do not sleep on them.

@@stephen3715 You act like teams do not grow every year and get experience. Mike Smith was not good. Nurse and Draisaitl were injured. Nurse should not have even been playing. COl got worse, Edmonton got better. Tampa lost to CMB before they won lol.

@@johanstinson yes. Colorado was more ready, deeper, and ahead of Edmonton in their development. People talk to Edmonton fans like it was embarrassing for us. I literally had Colorado winning. Not a sweep, but three games were by a goal and Mike Smith sucked

McDavid is great and Drai i feel is overlooked bc of 97 but Drai is an animal in his own right

Drasaitl had to put up 32 in 16 games for the idiots in Toronto and at Sportnet to realize how good he is and how much better he is then Matthews. I said it before and I'll say it again 1 legged Draisaitl is better then Mattews and the Leafs franchsie. Hopefully they dont have memory loss and remember how dominate he is next season.

Unfortunately MVP is awarded to the Stanley Cup Winner. Why that is not sure. Makar was chosen correctly.

Evander Kane use to be a light for Oilers but in his interview before our last game I’d knew it would be over when he said he was gonna get physical. He broke another players arm leading to the first of horrible power plays for Avalanche! Ugh so dissatisfied, disappointed. 😓

To my fellow Oilers fans: It's a great time to be alive. Soak it in and enjoy it. We will likely never see talent like this again, and the team is united and believe in themselves. I don't want to come off as a homer or over confident, but I truly believe that if Ken Holland can navigate the cap crunch he's in and bring in a depth piece, the Oilers have what it takes to win a cup. Lord knows how long we suffered to get back here. ❤ 🏒

That's not how it works

Can’t just be two players though, Avs got good depth not just Makar and Mackinnon. Plus really good goaltending tandoms. Oilers are close but not close enough.

Ya but the Avs have Makar at about 1M and MacKinnon at 6.3M. Oilers have a few more constraints to work with. Everything has to align for a team to have that much depth. Just gotta hope it does for the Oilers one of these years.

Oiler goalies couldn't stop a beachball slowly rolled in their direction.

Both were well over a point per game.

With all that talent, they still caved disastrously against Colorado. Something seriously wrong with the team, in spite of a nice Cup run. Goaltending collapsed. McDavid needed to be even more out of this world and get a hat trick plus a couple assists in at least two games, like Gretzky had done many times before when he knew he had to carry the team. Draisaitl needed more goals plus the assists, and he didn't do that. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why McDavid is still not in the category of Gretzky. He's close, but he's still on the outside of that rarified atmosphere looking in.

I've been watching the Oilers since 1981. McDavid is absolutely in the category with Gretzky. His numbers in some ways were comparable or better during the playoffs. (I'm just recalling the announcers calling the game and sharing various stats during their 3 series this year, no specifics for you.) And Gretzky himself says the game is faster today, and that it's harder to score. So if McDavid is matching or exceeding some of G's stats in today's game, he's at the same level. His reading of the ice, the anticipation, the passing, his vision, it's exceptional and it's comparable to Gretzky.
