For those who don’t know, Matt passed away this morning 07/03/2023. A legend who gave such great content and so many laughs. Rest in peace❤️

I fucking miss Matt. I only just saw the tweet about his passing... I've been watching him since 2015 and a Sub since 2016 on his Twitch Channel.... I'll go binge watch his old content now. Fuck.

I don't get that part... what's so funny about it? If the transition altitude in that sector was 4,000 feet, then that would be appropriate to say "flight level 4,000"

​@@thecomedypilot5894 so FL4000 would be 400,000ft... so he'd be in low earth orbit, and the idea of a commercial airliner being in space is hilarious for the transition altitude, you'd simply just say “FL40"

@@Namisincere But if you know anything about transition altitudes, when you're at or above transition altitude, you read back "flight level..." then your altitude. In some airports, the transition altitude is 3,000 feet. So upon reaching 3,000 feet, you'd say to ATC: "We're level at flight level three-thousand." Matt probably didn't know much of that back then.

​@@thecomedypilot5894 Corrected my initial comment because I wildly misinterpreted you. I meant to say FL40. Sounds like you're confused about flight level to be honest. You don't say the flight level like it's an alternate way of saying feet. Flight level, dumbing it down massively, (without taking into account how barometers work, hPa and metres, maths etc..) calculates air pressure in units of 100 feet, not 1 foot. But what happens if you do combine the two? Go on frequency, "We're at flight level three-thousand" I guarantee everyone on frequency will laugh at you now, because to everyone else, it sounds like you've outclassed the space shuttle. Instead it would be "We're at flight level three-zero" or "We're at flight level zero-three-zero"

@@Namisincere I can recall watching a video from the cockpit though where the pilots did call in at "flight level three-thousand" or something like that, but honestly if you're going into a busy airport, I don't think they'll have the time to just stand there and laugh at you, they'll probably just move on with normal operations.

fun fact: while alt f4 on fs9 gave you a prompt to confirm your intentions to shut down the sim, ctrl+c didn't. dos command simply yeeted the process instantly
