Kandy is so crowded especially when the festival is on but its worth visiting the peaceful and beautiful Botanical Gardens in nearby Peradeniya. Foreigners pay higher entry fee but its still modest If you are looking for accommodation near the Gardens and University try Summit View Guest House in Peradeniya, its perched on top of a Hill with the most beautiful views , great Hosts and wonderful views from every room . Swimming pool too I booked direct although you can book via Airbnb and Hotels.com
