According to commentary, he got so into the role Doc and Jackson had to ask him to tone down the "creep" a bit. So glad he was willing to do this. RIP

Unless you watch live TV, you probably don't see all the commercials or show bumpers for it. It's basically a lame attempt to keep Mr. Pickles running after they killed off that character somehow. I have NO idea why adult swim loves that show so much, since I've never heard anyone talk about it positively.

I love how the Monarch just casually has another archnemesis who has nothing to do with Team Venture. Like, all the characters have lives outside the show's main conflict.

Real man, with mind troubled with a terrible losses (during childhood he lost family, in middle years he lost his adopted son), usually wouldn't be as stoic & iron willed as Batman The Comics Character. Pretty much. MJ was still found not guilty despite the FBI investigating him and the family of the second accuser was crazy. The judge literally laughed during the mother’s testimony for how crazy it was.

Watching Captain Sunshine freak out when The Monarch was heading to his home with Hank/Wonderboy there had me busting up laughing.

He also sees it as a way to relive his childhood as he was the first Wonder Boy and hasn't really matured yet.

This also was a combination with Bruce Wayne's own desire to relive his childhood as well considering the very reason why he became Batman in the first place. Monarch was responsible for the death of the third Wonderboy (the one before Hank) in the most messed up ways possible with The Monarch adding insult to injury by leaving his mutilated body in a box on his porch. This fucked up Captain Sunshine so much more adding to his already damaged psyche to a point that he started acting more so like a child who never grew up. You could say that Desmond also added on to this given his time as Captain Sunshine and exposing Wonder Boy I to a lot of shit. Now we can take that prospect for interpretation, aside from realistically damaging a kid with exposing them to crime fighting

that last line of "you think you could put in a good word with Batman for me" so much better with the Kevin Conroy connection

The premise of Watchmen except written as a comedy is pretty much Venture Bros in a nutshell.

great example of why I love this show. A random character named in a random 1 off joke gets his own episode and lore

If he was a character in The Boys he would be WAY MORE creepier and more evil. Here he's just a very traumatized and almost over-protective guy who can live with the fact that he lost his very young sidekick. In The Boys, all of the superheroes are just a bunch of assholes using their powers to doing stupid and spitefil stuff, while in The Venture Bros, superheroes and supervillains are shown, in a very absurd yet sensitive way that even if those guys got those amazing ( and sometimes weird ) powers and/or abilities, they are still very human, with their upsides and downsides in each camp

Not happy and surprisingly innocent. He's severely traumatised by his last sidekick getting murdered, charred and then mailed back to him. His fixation on his sidekicks, while undeniably creepy, are just because he can't process what happened and so has become fixated on keeping Wonder Boy safe.

Good news, if you pay attention to the lore, Hank was 19 at this time due to cloning, bad news he and many others genuinely believe Hank and Dean are 16, especially captain sunshine. Only Rusy, Brock, and the mother knows Dean and Hanks true age.

There were so many good bits, references and easter eggs in this show
