To go back in history to general motors in the 1950s when they built five basic models, the Chevrolet, the Pontiac, the Buick, the Oldsmobile and the Cadillac. When they came out with the Chevrolet, your insinuation is that it must have lost some folks who would have bought a Cadillac. That's totally incorrect. No one bought a Chevrolet instead of a Cadillac. New one who want s the new car will buy a neo instead for obvious reasons. It in fact opens the whole new window for the public who wants a smaller, less expensive car that will produce a profit for NIO!

Ya. I Completely agree. This opens up a whole new market segment. It doesn’t split their current market segment.

Without profits the market seems to only care about deliveries, and it won't matter if its NIO or ONVO or a combination imho. I agree that the partnerships are key and that will take time. Hopefully by end of year their cash burn and losses will improve.

My take on Onvo is it will deliver in much bigger numbers than Nio and Nio is a premium luxurious brand. Think of Lexus and Toyota, Asian people are very much into class and categories. The middle upper class will only buy Nio and the working middle class will stick with Onvo. I will never able to convince the wife that Toyota is cheaper and more reliable and her first pick will always be Lexus. As for Nio, the expectations are between 12-20K this year and hopefully when China economy recover with 300M millionaires back buying luxury goods Nio should be able to deliver 20-30K monthly. The key here is Onvo will outsell Nio 2-1 with BaaS. The biggest revenue for Nio will be from BaaS and services. Onvo and Firefly are the only way to push over 1M vehicles deliver annually

Most importantly for me is to have decent margin on this car. Otherwise, the whole sub brand idea will have negative impact on NIO

I believe they will transition to an energy storage and distribution company, cars are there just to create demand for their storage and distribution products.

Onvo brand means family in Chinese. I think there’s enough sales for both brands . They are going after Tesla and BYD in this price point. The key question is what does this do to their cash burn . They will need more investments and partners . The next earnings will be very important.

I am concerning about the new 60KWh battery, they said it will be put into 3rd gen station, and it will be thinner than original battery pack, how about the maintenance and distribution? Will it disrupt user experience?

Strange I thought NIO only took gen 1-3 battery swap stations and onvo will be charged at gen 4 battery station? Not sure it will disrupt anything.

Many will get an ONVO because they do not afford a NIO. I also believe that some potential NIO costumes will opt for an ONVO since they look great, and look like a NIO.

Well I'm just referring to those who pump Nio unconditionally. As far as who is better, you can argue anyone who is making a profit is better. Don't get me wrong I'm a fan of Nio but they have yet to prove to be the end all be all.

NIO does not need ONVO. It's like saying Lexus need Toyota to be profitable. We need to look at NIO and ONVO as two separate companies revenue.

No... that's not how it works and it's definitely not in line with NIOs strategy.

It could happen both ways people may notice cheap price on onvo but maybe just notice nio itself and may look into nio as well

I feel they held out offering a cheaper car they could of removed 2nd motor on ETS and used a cheaper self driving , look at rollysroyce they up 300% in a yr they did not make a cheap model they branched out making like Jet engines , nio had pain backed in for a hi end , I hope this does not shift it to a low end china ev ; Cost so much to devolop a car and thus far with all Nio models none sold enough to break even , Tesla is superior at making only what makes them where they are ,

We already know that future NIOs (gen 3+) will cost more and offer more. The "cannibalization" if there is any, is very temporary and is probably at the benefit of the company since the ONVO L60 has better margins too. It's pretty clear that now NIO is shifting strategy. It was a matter of time. Flagship NIO is there for R&D and branding. DONGXii I think you have been misunderstanding NIO's plan all along. It's the same with NIO calling themselves an automaker. The only reason they do that is to create an entry point for users and to fund their R&D efforts. In the future, they will call themselves a smart mobility/lifestyle company. They will expand into tourism industry, entertainment etc. etc. assuming that they have established a high userbase worldwide. They have now reached the point where they have to sell volume, so naturally they have to compete with TESLA and be savage about it. I personally think that TESLA will inevitably become irrelevant in the automotive space, along with other companies like Li Auto, LUCID etc. etc. When that happens, it signals to me that the public is ready to accept NIOs leading role in the smart mobility space.

We see next Tuesday and most important to me next earnings report be bad and more excuses

leapmotors+ stellantis, xpeng+VW..... maybe Reanult+ Nio for EU firefly (and onvo?) production? their have big plans for EV but their offering is bleak. Are macron and Xi friends again now?

Tesla is getting crushed and thank goodness. Sales from Shanghai globally down 10% this year. Hertz dumped 30k more teslas as they are garbage. Cybertruck flat out failed. Great news.

Ppl buying nio cars are rich ppl..they want status ..so why would they buy onvo now ? They want the et7. Onvo is for the middle class.

That’s like asking why people buy Lexus or Toyota in the states…..

The only concern for me of this swappable tech is the risk that the battery can be stolen if you park your car in the street at night, we saw what they did for the muffler that cost 10% the price of the battery, imagine what will thiefs do when then know that batteries cost a fortune
