Scenic is by far the best dedicated motorcycle app I have come across. Only limitation is it only works on iPhone. I use my iPad to design my routes and my phone to navigate. VERY well supported. Love it!

Hey Steve, I found your channel a couple weeks ago and subscribed after watching the first video. You do what I love to do and that’s riding motorcycles and camping. Right now I camp off my Harley but plan to get a trailer soon so I can car ry more stuff. I have a quick question for you if you don’t mind. Since you have been pulling the trailer have you had any issues with the clutch burning out prematurely or any issues with the transmission due to the extra weight? Love your channel man, keep em coming.

G'Day from OZ. Fantastic video with a ton of good info, Excellent the way you showed the ride with the map at the same time! My question is will the Inroute app still work in areas that have no cell phone reception? (Here in OZ we call cell phones, mobile phones)

I do that by designing the ride on my computer and then transferring it to the app. That way I can hit all the twisty roads.

Great video! I love the workaround, but PLEASE tell me how you synced up the video and the map split-screen at 17:14! I'm trying to figure out the best way to record my rides showing both video and map exactly like this. Thank you!!!

Try Motion X GPS. It will mark your trail and give all the specs on mileage, time, altitude, etc.

Unfortunately, routes manually altered by dragging on the google maps website are *not* sent to the Google Maps app on a mobile device. Only the starting point, intermediary stops & destination are sent to the Google Maps app, which will in most cases - but not always - calculate the same default route as was shown on the website. But every intermediary waypoint is a stop, not a via waypoint, which forces users to hit the "Continue" button in order to proceed along the route.

@@SteveOutdoors Given the limitations of Google Maps website /app (especially for long trips), it's probably better to use a single google maps route (with just a start & end) for each segment of a trip where you actually stop for a while at each endpoint. This is the only way to get google maps to work with date & time of day rather than just elapsed time. I do this by planning the entire trip in something like Streets & Trips (or maybe inRoute) or in one google map route (if 10 waypoints are enough), and then breaking the route down into segments with just a start & end, which are easy to send to a mobile device for navigation.

Steve, when I clicked on EXPORT GPX it didn't give me the option to save to my laptop. It downloads the files and asks which app to open the file in. Any ideas on how to save the file so I can email it to myself?

@@SteveOutdoors The difference I had to do was after saving the route and exporting the route, I have to go to my DOWNLOADS folder and copy/paste the file to the 1Rides folder I created on my laptop. I still get the same result I just have to take a slightly different route. 🤗 I hope this helps someone else out with the same issues.

How is using the HD program on the desktop any different from using Google Maps? They essentially have the same info. If Google doesn’t know a road isn’t a good motorcycle option, how does HD? I find the RideCommand app works pretty well. Able to design on the desktop app and the. transfer to the phone or directly to the bike. Have also designed plenty of rides in Google Maps (much easier editing on the desktop than RideCommand) and export the GPX to the RideCommand App. Haven’t heard of InRoute. Curious, will have to check it out. Thanks for sharing.
